What we’re about
This group is for anyone interested in open source software and hardware. We aim to encourage self-hosting of services to contribute to a better, more decentralised Internet.
We plan to run regular meetups to discuss all aspects of open source from modern federated services and approaches to open standards for communication.
We also aim to run regular informal sessions to teach basic server administration, command line usage, hosting basic services web servers as well as Mastodon or PeerTube and showcase some of the latest developments in open source.

Linux command line basics for beginners (and hackers!)
The Gamer Club, 153 Bath Lane, Glasgow, GBOur regular event is back; a guided exploration of the Linux server command line.
Aimed at absolute beginners. We'll show how to securely connect to a server then we'll work through Bandit, an adventure game set in the command line that progresses step-by-step from the basics to common programs and beyond.
This will be an in-person event in The Gamer Club, on Bath Lane.
I'll work through the challenges on the big screen and explain what I'm doing as well all work together though the levels. Join in and play along or feel free to work on your own thing (setting up a server, coding etc) and someone there should be able to assist you if needed.

Note: The venue is unlicenced, but you are welcome to bring your own beers/wine and there is free tea and coffees! See https://www.thegamerclub.co.uk/gettinghere for directions.
