Our Safe Space is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers feminine energy in any form, fostering growth and resilience by providing a positive space where everyone can thrive through self-discovery and community.
This nonprofit and is founded and led by Gayla Gongwer, a seasoned educator, trainer, and facilitator, who brings decades of experience and energy to her work. Born in Kentucky, she earned her degree in social psychology from Illinois State University before venturing west of the Mississippi in 1979 – and has gratefully avoided living in winter ever since.
Currently, Gayla is dedicated to growing her lifelong dream, "Our Safe Space," a nonprofit organization committed to helping everyone live the life of their dreams. Whatever that dream might be.
With a passion for community engagement, she currently volunteers weekly at Friends of the Library and serves on the Board & Marketing Committee. Gayla's love for literature extends beyond her volunteer work; she belongs to so many book clubs that she needs to track them on a spreadsheet.
Driven by her commitment to creating positive change and fostering inclusivity, Gayla invites you to join her in making a difference through "Our Safe Space" and beyond.
Non-Discrimination Policy
At Our Safe Space, we are deeply committed to creating a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or exclusion based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, religion, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristic that makes each individual unique.
We celebrate diversity and recognize that our strength lies in the richness of our differences. We are dedicated to fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect, dignity, and understanding, where everyone feels valued, heard, and safe.
This commitment extends to all aspects of our organization, including programs, events, and interactions. Together, we strive to create a space where everyone can truly belong and grow.

Join us twice a month for a 10-week journey inspired by Glennon Doyle’s We Can Do Hard Things book and podcast.
Each session stands alone — come to one or come to all.
We’ll dive into themes like courage, boundaries, self-trust, and showing up for yourself. You do not need to read the whole book (or any of it!) to join.
This is our 8th week - we’ll focus on Chapters 15 and 16.
• Chapter 15 explores the paradox of seeking happiness in a culture that promotes perpetual dissatisfaction and endless striving.
• Chapter 16 frames anger as a vital emotional signal rather than a character flaw, challenging cultural narratives that shame individuals—particularly women—for experiencing this fundamental human emotion.
The Key Takeaways from the book are these concepts:
- Excavate Your Authentic Self Rather Than Adding More
- Use Discomfort as Your Internal Guidance System
- Embrace Conflict as a Pathway to Deeper Connection
- Practice Radical Self-Compassion as a Tool for Growth
- Trust Your Body’s Wisdom Over External Validation
- Choose Faith and Connection Despite Life’s Uncertainty
If you’re craving connection, growth, and a little Monday night magic — this is the place.
Let’s do hard things.
Together.

Vision Board Workshop on River Road!
Natural Grocers, 5600 E River Rd, Tucson, AZ, USVision Board Bash: Dream It, See It, Create It!
Whether you're a first-timer or a vision board veteran, this is your chance to gather with friends, get inspired, and have a little creative fun while you map out your best life. Let’s turn dreaming into doing — together.
And yes — friends, sisters, neighbors — bring ‘em along! The more, the merrier.
We’ll kick things off with some lighthearted conversation about goals, manifesting, and setting your sights on the life you want. Then it’s time to dive in and create your board — your way. There are no rules when it comes to picturing joy, success, or your next big adventure.
We’ll bring the poster board, scissors, glue, and a stash of supplies. You bring your ideas, your favorite people, and anything else you want — magazines, stickers, glitter (if that’s your jam). Or bring your laptop and make a digital board.
Make it a party. Make it a vision. Make it yours.

OnlineAn “Effortless” Holiday Season and beyond.
It's Self Care Season - now more then ever!
We all know the drill: the holidays sneak up, and suddenly we’re buried under wrapping paper, half-baked plans, and way too many “must-do’s.”
Let’s change that.
In this INFORMAL Sunday-morning-jammies ONLINE chat about getting through the next month with grace and style.
We’ll unwrap the art of doing less while enjoying more—so you can coast into the holidays with ease, laughter, and a whole lot of merry left over.
- Cultivating a calm, clear mindset so essential tasks feel easier to tackle
- Doing the minimum necessary step consistently, instead of forcing things.
- Building systems or habits that generate ongoing benefits with minimal effort.
- Looking for easier ways to achieve the same outcomes
- Pairing essential tasks with enjoyable ones
- Letting go of emotional burdens and unnecessary complexity
- Leaning into rest and small wins
Unless you'd rather take another approach. And I'm just fine with that!
If you send your email address to OurSafeSpaceUS@gmail.com, I can email you a handout.
