About us
This group is for people that like to have fun and adventure in the great outdoors; hiking in the foothills and mountains, camping, funyaking on the French Broad, whitewater rafting on the Nolichucky, biking the Virginia Creeper, outdoor live music, backpacking, spelunking and more. The hikes I lead will be rated either "Moderate", "Difficult" or "Strenuous" and most are what I would call aerobic hiking, but with lots of short stops to appreciate what Mother Nature has to show us! I'm open to others leading easier hikes and making suggestions. An example of "Moderate" would be the Lake Norman State Park "Lake Shore Trail" with one rest/food stop in the middle and some short water breaks etc. I've had several Red Cross first aid courses over the years, including the outdoor trauma course. JOIN US FOR SOME FUN!
If you have an idea then post it or send me a message!
BREAKING RULES WILL GET YOU THROWN OUT:

2. No physical of mental abuse will be tolerated
3. No showing multiple times - please cancel at least 1 hour before the meet time
4. No activity for 6 months

Crowders Mountain State Park -10 Mile Hike
Crowders Mountain State Park, 522 Park Office Ln, Kings Mountain, NC, USSummer is ending… let’s stay close to home and get good exercise and fellowship while doing some elevation gain at Crowder's Mountain State Park. We will also do a special bush whack portion that provides some additional great views and some fun challenging rock scrambling.
The mountain itself is a monadnock, an isolated erosional remnant that rises abruptly from the surrounding plain. Crowders Mountain is named for Crowders Creek which originates near its base.
This is a difficult hike of 10 miles and maybe 1800 feet elevation gain. We will be doing Crowder’s, Rock Top, Pinnacle, and Turn Back Trails. We will summit two mountain peaks with towering cliffs that offer magnificent views of the surrounding Piedmont.
Bring water and a trail lunch or snack. We will stop for lunch.
Meet at the Visitor Center.
Restrooms at the visitor center.
Afterwards, we will get food and drinks at a place to be determined.

Elk Knob Beat The Heat Hike - Lost Province Taproom & Coyota Kitchen
Elk Knob State Park, 5564 Meat Camp Rd, Todd, NC, USIt will be in the 60s when we arrive on top of Elk Knob Sunday morning with lots of Sunshine, elevation is 5520 ft.
There's Awesome Views From Both Sides Of The Summit
The summit trail is about 4 miles total with just over 1,000 ft vertical, I would rate it in the easy side of difficult range. For those that want to you can go at least half way back down and go back up for a total of 6 miles and 1,500 ft vertical making it difficult or 8 miles and 2,000 ft.. Everyone not extending the hike are welcome to head on to Lost Province Taproom.Bring water and a trail lunch or snack.

Elk Knob State Park features one of the highest peaks in North Carolina’s high country at 5,520 feet and one of the parks system’s finest trails to the spectacular views from the summit. Other trails are being developed at this relatively new park. Despite its location in an area known for winter weather, the park attempts to stay open throughout the winter and is the only one in the system offering cross-country skiing (although skiers must provide their own equipment). At lower elevations, there are primitive, backcountry campsites for individuals and for groups. Elk Knob is an outstanding park for experiencing all seasons in the mountain environmentI'll add carpool info
