Community + Permaculture Gathering
Stonehedge Gardens, 51 Dairy Road, Tamaqua, PA, USReconnecting at Stonehedge: Community + Permaculture Gathering
Hello friends,
Some of you may remember that in 2017 and 2018, Stonehedge Gardens hosted permaculture convergences and other experiential gatherings where people came together to learn hands-on skills and started the creation of a community for land-based learning.
***
This Meetup group began around that time, and even though there has been very little activity in recent years, interest has continued to grow. This feels like a good time to begin reconnecting and exploring what might want to emerge next.
***
We’d love to invite you to join us for an upcoming Community Gathering Weekend at Stonehedge Gardens over Labor Day weekend (Sept 5-7). I’ll include the full event link here so you can see more details and RSVP if you are available and interested to reconnect: Stonehedge Community Gathering Weekend (Sept 5-7)
***
In short, Saturday (Sept 5) will be a day of gathering, music, shared food, celebration, and community. Sunday and Monday will be more focused on working together on the land, while still staying connected through shared meals, music, conversation, and community throughout the weekend. My thinking is that we could meet as a group around 3pm on Saturday and meet for as long as long as we like. You are welcome to stay (and camp out) for the weekend. We only have limited space for camping and ask that you RSVP at the attached link if you plan to do so.
***
For those interested in permaculture, land restoration, skill-sharing, gardening, food forests, primitive skills, natural building, or helping re-envision Stonehedge as a permaculture learning center, I would especially love to meet during the weekend.
***
My hope is to connect with whoever feels called to come, hear what your interests are, and begin exploring possibilities for future gatherings, such as:- Regular in-person permaculture meetups at Stonehedge
- Hands-on workshops and skill-sharing days
- Seasonal convergences or work/learn gatherings
- Land restoration and regenerative design projects
***
We’ll also be preparing the land for the Harmonic Earth Festival, which will take place September 17-20 (Autumn Equinox). If you’re not able to attend the Community Weekend, Harmonic Earth will be another opportunity to visit Stonehedge, connect with the community, and experience what is beginning to unfold here. This will be the 6th year for this festival and you can find more details here:
Harmonic Earth Healing Arts Festival (Sept 17-20)
***
The Community Weekend (on Sept 5) feels like the right first step because it is free, informal, and centered on reconnecting — with the land, with each other, and with the possibilities ahead.
***
Whether you were part of the earlier convergences, joined the Meetup along the way, or are just now feeling called to connect, you are welcome to come. We are just asking you to RSVP at the above link so we know how much food and other resources to have on hand. With gratitude,
Tom
