We are a group of Plastic Ocean Project volunteers dedicated to keeping our oceans healthy and clean of plastic pollution through regular cleanups, community outreach, and research! Join our group to learn about volunteer opportunities related to this issue in Wilmington and other southeastern North Carolina communities.

2nd Quarter Halyburton Park Cleanup
Halyburton Park, 4099 South 17th Street, Wilmington, NC, USJoin us for our Second Quarter Halyburton Park Cleanup of 2026! Volunteers will be removing debris from along 17th Street near the entrance of the park.
Since 2019, 4,320 pounds of trash has been removed from around Halyburton Park. Earning 173 trees for Plastic Ocean Project's Trees4Trash initiative.### Where: Halyburton Park (4099 S 17th Street, Wilmington, NC)

Fifth Annual Trash'n Fash'n Show
Perennial Harbor, 1107 Princess Street, Wilmington, NC, USThis is Plastic Ocean Project's 5th Annual Trash'n Fash'n Show! This unique family friendly event helps bring awareness to the community about general waste habits specifically with the fashion industry. Designers of all ages will have the opportunity to model their fashions made out of repurposed materials like old fabrics, vintage clothing from thrift stores, plastics, and other single use materials.
Attendees and participants will enjoy an evening dedicated to fashion and sustainability!

🌊 Sustainable Summer Cleanup Kickoff🌍

Come help cleanup along HWY 421!
Since 2020, Plastic Ocean Project has removed 13,058.5 pounds of trash from this stretch of Highway 421, resulting in the planting of 522 trees through our Trees4Trash program.
