Present Company - a 30s-50s LWR Social Group

Honestly, I inherited this group from someone else and kept it going because I think it fills a real need.

We’re a small group of people in their 30s, 40s and early 50s in the Lakewood Ranch and Bradenton area. We get together twice a month for the kind of conversation that actually goes somewhere.

What I’ve noticed is that making real friends as an adult is genuinely hard, especially in a place like LWR where a lot of us moved from somewhere else. You can live here for years and still feel like you’re one degree away from actually belonging. This group is my attempt to close that gap a little.

I also think there’s something worth paying attention to with how much of our social lives have moved online or gotten handed off to algorithms and AI. Now, showing up in person and having a real conversation with someone you didn’t already know feels increasingly rare. We’re trying to keep that going. I know that I want to continue real and meaningful experiences and believe many people feel the same.

Membership is $24 a year. It’s low on purpose, about a dollar an event, but it filters for people who are actually going to show up and participate and goes to the yearly Meetup Group fee.
