Only Amiga Makes It Possible: Discovering the Future in a Computer from 1985
In 1985, Commodore shipped a home computer, the Amiga, with a hardware operation queue, a scanline-synchronized display coprocessor, and a four-channel audio engine, all running in parallel without touching the CPU. We've spent forty years reinventing it.
The Amiga is remembered for the extraordinary games, graphics, and music people created with it. We'll dive into the graphics hardware and learn what made this custom chipset remarkable, tracing how the architecture that made a 1985 home computer feel like magic incorporates many of the same ideas as the GPU pipelines, async patterns, and parallel processing models we as technologists work with today.
