What we’re about
Welcome to Adventure People! This group is for everyone who loves to hike, kayak, rock climb, and anything that gets us outdoors. We have a great team of organizers who schedule local outdoor activities, social events, and weekend camping trips. We also do small group trips to destinations around the world.
Some of the things we've done include watching the Northern Lights in Iceland, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, rappelling down waterfalls in Costa Rica, trekking on a glacier in Argentina, hiking the W Trek in Chile, climbing a volcano in Hawaii, visiting the country's national parks, exploring the world's most spectacular caves in Vietnam, salsa dancing lessons in Cuba, and that's just a few.
Adventure People all have one thing in common, we want to travel the world and have fun doing it. We're explorers, not tourists. Regardless of where you go and what you do, it's the people you share the experience with that you'll remember the most. What you'll find in Adventure People is that we're a fun, active, adventurous, welcoming group of friends. By joining our community and participating in our local and international trips, you'll not only have a new group of friends but new travel companions with whom you'll want to share more experiences. That's why you'll always see repeat travelers on all of our trips!

Mycology Exploring, Wild Mushroom Foraging, Snyder Trail, Chumash Painted Cave
Snyder's Trailhead, Paradise Rd., Santa Barbara, CA, USThe hidden world of fungi fascinates me. Wherever there are suitable substrates of almost any imaginable materials, they are there but often less noticeable. And when the growing conditions are favorable, the fruiting bodies can be found emerging in various colors and forms, such as vibrant lilac wood blewit, yellow chanterelle, bright orange sulfur shelf, black trumpet, bright red fly agaric, indigo milk cap, salmon apricot jelly.
On this trip, I am combining mycology field discovery, to document & photograph various new and fascinating species; foraging for wild choice edible such as cantharellus californicus, pleurotus ostreatus, agaricus bitorquis, clitocybe nuda, amanita calyptroderma, amanita velosa, boletus barrowsii, armillaria mellea, agaricus augustus; and searching for fungi with healing potential, such as hericium erinaceus and trametes versicolor.
On this exploring trip, I expect to find lots of amanita ocreata/ western destroying angel, and maybe some amanita phalloides/ death cap. These are some of the most deadly fungi to humans and animals. However, there is nothing to fear unless ingesting them. Photographing, touching, and smelling them are all fine. They are part of the ecosystem for millions of years, and exist in nature for their own reasons.
This is also an exploring and socializing hike in beautiful nature. I am taking the Snyder Trail through Los Padres National Forest, and on to visit Chumash Painted Cave.
If you are also fascinated by the amazing world of fungi, passionate about hiking & exploring in beautiful nature, committed to health, fitness & vitality, and meet the quality below by self assessment, you are welcome to submit your intent to join. 🙂

Bishop Peak: Boulder & Tree Climbing, Hiking, Exploring, Sunsetting
Bishop Peak & Felsman Loop Trailhead Patricia Street Entrance, 787 Patricia Dr, San Luis Obispo, CA, USBishop Peak is my favorite spot in San Luis Obispo for some exciting boulder climbing and consistent great panoramic views of SLO and the surrounding areas, especially at sunset. The hiking trail itself is relatively narrow and steep, rocky, making it less mundane and more exciting to hike. The forested area in the lower section with boulder outcrops is very scenic. Frequently there are other hikers along the trail going up and down, and quite often I had encountered other hikers and climbers that brought meaningful conversations on top of the boulders.
For this trip, I also want to check out Felsman Loop for tree climbing and mycology field exploring. There will be some bushy traverse, including encountering poison oaks. The main focus is on the boulder climbing at the peak, and watching the sun setting on a prominent boulder with 360 panoramic views.
Post hike dinner at Firestone Grill in SLO. I hardly eat out, but will make an exception for a good jalapeño burger and vibrant atmosphere.
Check out photos & video clips from previous trips.
