Senior Singles Fun Bunch

NOTE: The Independence Day picnic is being held on Friday, July 3 instead of the 4th of July for the only reservable picnic shelter/gazebo at Sycamore Flats in Pisgah National Forest was already reserved months ago. But I was able to reserve it for our group on the 3rd! Yay! We will simply celebrate one day early which has its pros ~ far less crowded!

THE SHELTER/GAZEBO: We will have 4 shelter tables, a grill, two restrooms with flush toilets, a dumpster, a large open field, and access to the Davidson River. There are also walking trails.
NOTE: Unfortunately, there is no portable water available. Please bring your own water.

DOGS: Dogs are allowed ~ must be on a leash.

GUESTS: You may bring up to 2 guests.

FOOD & DRINKS: Please bring your own lunch & drink, and a dish or snack to share with the group. And there’s the grill if you want to grill something ~ just bring your own grill supplies.
I’m bringing brownies to share with everyone. What are you bringing?

LAWN CHAIRS & MISC: If you wish bring your lawn chair or a blanket, sun screen, bug spray, etc.

DONATIONS: Any donations will be accepted since I paid $58 to reserve the shelter for us.

HOW TO FIND THE PICNIC: We will be at the one and only sheltered picnic table/gazebo in Sycamore Flats. Plus, I will have a big white poster with “Senior Fun Bunch Meetup” tacked to the outside of the shelter facing the road.

Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸 Hope to see y’all at the picnic 🧺 for our early celebration!! 🎉

Adair’s Cajun Cooking is now located permanently (instead of only having a food truck) in a brick-and-mortar location in downtown Hendersonville. They are in the basement at 321 N. Main St. Ste C. There will be Spanish moss-covered wood decor out front with a life-size alligator sculpture. Hard to miss! 🐊

They offer authentic Cajun food since the owners are from Louisiana. Some of their dishes are crawfish or shrimp etouffee, 🦐 chicken & sausage gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans & rice to name a few. And if you have a sweet tooth 🦷 they offer pecan pralines and bread pudding. 😋 To see more of their menu just google Adair’s Cajun Cooking menu.

For now they are counter service only (they just opened in April) with dining in and also there is outdoor seating.

Dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area only. 🐶

I’ve rescheduled Apollo Flame Bistro (since they had to temporarily close on our prior meetup date) this far out to give them plenty of time to get new help and to re-establish themselves. Hopefully, they can for I really enjoy their Greek food and I want to see the bistro now that they have remodeled it! Come join me!

PET FRIENDLY: Well-behaved dogs on a leash are allowed in the patio dining area.

The Lake Lure boat tour is a guided tour of Lake Lure with a skipper. The pontoon boat has a covered top so you will be protected from the sun. Each boat holds a maximum of 20 people. For safety there are life jackets for each person.

This is such a fun tour! Every time I have guests out of town I take them on the boat tour. They loved it! You will, too! ❤️

I made our meetup during the week for it would be nearly impossible to get all of us on two boats on the weekend. The Lake Lure boat tour is very popular, and especially now that the lake has reopened.

COST: Seniors ~ (62+) $22
Adults ~ $24
*****NOTE: Since we are a group of over 10 adults our cost (group rate) will now be $17 per person despite age. 😃

BOAT TOUR: This is a one hour tour. Our boat departs promptly at 11:00 AM. Please be at the Lake Lure Beach House (2724 Memorial Hwy., Lake Lure, N.C. 28746) at least by 10:30 AM to pay for the tour or to use the restrooms. Please keep in mind the skipper will NOT wait on late arrivals.

For those who would like to dine at the Riverwatch Bar & Grill in Chimney Rock (right down the road) after we finish our boat tour please RSVP on the separate meetup. And if you wish to skip the boat tour and just join us for lunch that’s fine, too! We will have reservations.
So come join me! It will be a fun tour with the skipper narrating about the changes in the lake since Hurricane Helene.
