## Hi, I'm Eleanor!

I invite you to a 90-minute in-person writing workshop: The Power of Story — a space where you can be yourself, write freely, connect with others... and discover your voice.

This workshop is for you if:

• You're craving deeper creativity but feel stuck in your head.
• You're holding onto a story that deserves to be told more honestly.
• You want to write with others in a space that feels brave and authentic.

I'm a California lawyer, emerita professor, and consultant with over a decade of experience teaching business and communication skills. Key themes in my work include migration, dislocation, and globalization. I offer online courses in cultural proficiency and professional development. My passion is helping writers of all skill levels to advocate for themselves and others.

Here’s how it works:
6:00 PM Show up at the Madeira Friends Hub, feeling productive and energized! We meet in the main terrace area. Brace yourself for an hour of writing in focused silence.

• *RSVP and please arrive by 6:00 pm to get settled and set up.* We will introduce ourselves briefly and start promptly at 6:20 pm.
• 6:20 PM to 7:20 PM: we shut up and write!

7:20 PM: Post-writing chat! We check in with each other for a measure of accountability. We then head out for a post-writing drink and/or dinner. Or head out to get a jump on your other weekly activities.

Shut Up & Write hosts free in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. Our goal is to ensure that every writer, regardless of genre or skill level, has access to the community, accountability, and resources they need to be successful in their personal writing goals. Our events utilize our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, an hour of focused writing, and a final check-in to share the progress made during the hour.

What to Expect
*** Please RSVP and arrive 10–15 minutes early to get settled at an in-person event. ****** Our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time.

Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Members often talk about their successes and challenges as writers. Our events provide a safe space for writers to hone their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.
