About us
- sign-up for outings and complete the participant agreement in advance at https://www.riograndesierraclub.org/calendar/
- The Sierra Club is an active and fun environmental organization. Come join us for hikes, outings, art openings, talks by experts, volunteer opportunities, and great conversation about environmental issues! There are tons of ways to get involved with this group.
SAFE SPACE AGREEMENT
Outdoor Activities runs programs that insist on a safe space agreement between participants, leaders, volunteers, and staff. We want to support everyone in exploring, enjoying, and protecting these phenomenal spaces, and hateful and dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. We don’t want to deny participation in these outdoor programs and we will always say no to racism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, impairment, and disruption. This clearly outlines the expectations of those wishing to support the Sierra Club mission and values.
- If you’ve signed-up for an outing or event and begin to feel ill, please stay home and seek appropriate medical care.
- Participants are welcome to wear masks if it makes them comfortable.

What's it like to hike New Mexico's newest long-distance trail? Pam Neely, the trail's developer, will share her adventure, starting at Santa Fe Plaza, ending at Taos Plaza. She'll give us an overview - what the route traverses, preparation, and resources along the way. The trail is beautiful and has ample water, you'll meet wildlife, hug old growth trees, trek across lovely green meadows but there are challenges ahead. Hikers encounter diminishing snowpack, bark beetles, fire scars, cattle, and logging roads all in evidence along the trail, providing opportunities to expand your conservation awareness. So treat yourself to a 132 mile, multiday adventure!
