About us
Welcome to Seattle's original Silent Book Club!
Join us for an hour of reading with fellow book lovers a few times every month. There's no assigned reading--just bring whatever you're already reading (or whatever's at the top of your TBR!). All genres and reading formats (print, audiobooks, and e-readers) are welcome. There's lots of time after the reading hour to chat with fellow readers, swap book recommendations, and get inspired to read something new. Or, if you prefer to skip the chitchat, you can always "read and leave."
We start each meetup with quick intros: your name & pronouns, where in Seattle/area you're from, and what you're reading. These always spark post-reading-hour conversations and we love to see it! After reading, we almost always go for dinner or drinks nearby, and everyone is welcome to join!
Silent Book Club® is a global community of readers, with more than 1000 chapters in 50 countries around the world led by local volunteers. SBC members gather in public at bars, cafes, bookstores, libraries, and online to read together in quiet camaraderie. Learn more here.

Silent Book Club Seattle @ The Ink Drinker
The Ink Drinker, 2050 NW Market St, Seattle, WA 98107, Seattle, WA, USWith the demise of our U-District homebase, we're moving to other neighborhoods... Welcome to our first meet up at The Ink Drinker, a book-themed bar in Ballard and a most welcoming place to read in public.
We are establishing this event on the second Thursday of every month, with a later start time befitting the pre-weekend meetup date.Whether you’re diving into a gripping novel, finishing your latest nonfiction pick, or simply savoring a few quiet moments with a book, this welcoming gathering is the perfect way to enjoy reading in good company.
Bring your favorite read, a friend, or just yourself.
All book genres, reading mediums, and readers 21+ are welcome!📅 Event Schedule
⏳ 7:15 - 7:30 → Arrive, settle in, and purchase a beverage - please support our host venue!
***Arriving after 7:30 pm may not ensure optimal or available seating.***
📖 ~7:45 - ~8:00 PM → Introduce yourself (name+location, what you’re reading).
🤫 ~8:00 - 9:00 PM → Silent reading time.
🍾 9:00 PM onwards → Optional social time.We are establishing this event on the second Thursday of every month, with a later start time befitting the pre-weekend date.
🔹 RSVP & Event Guidelines
✔ No assigned reading – Bring any book you’re currently enjoying (physical, e-reader, or audiobook with headphones).
✔ RSVP REQUIRED – Note that the Ink Drinker has a maximum capacity of 50. To help us coordinate space and seating, please RSVP. It's ideal to arrive as close to 6:30 pm as possible for optimal+available seating. We are currently capping RSVPs at 70 to account for the usual number of no-shows - this may be adjusted in the future as we get a better idea of what the typical attendance is like.
