Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Doubles Volleyball - Competitive BB/ABluemont Park Disc Golf Course, Arlington, VA
Let's get together to play some competitive coed doubles volleyball.
COST: FREE
Court Type: Outdoor grass
Minimum Skill Requirements: Solid BB (click here for details)Attention:
- This event is NOT on a first come-first serve basis and players with higher skill level and players who can bring a net/ball will get priority over others on the wait list.
- Since skill levels are self-reported, some new attendees may not meet the expected level. We encourage you to choose a partner you can enjoy the game with, and since this a competitive event, it is okay if you make a strong team and win all the games.
- Each person must help set up and take down one net, leaving some nets unset for latecomers.
- Volleyball - Advanced Beginners (B) - Bluemont ParkBluemont Park, Arlington, VA
How to find us: Park in the South Bluemont Parking Area, near the restrooms. Cross the bridge, then head slightly left toward the baseball backstop—we’ll be nearby.
If you’ve already learned the basics of volleyball and want to keep improving your skills while having fun, this event is for you!
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner (click here for details).
Skill Level Note: The game level might be slightly below a solid B, as this event is beginner‑friendly. We welcome beginners who are willing to listen, learn and try to improve by always playing three passes.
Reminders
- Attendance: We’ve noticed that the waitlist is growing, so please make sure your name is on the Going list if you plan to play. Our number of nets is limited so this helps avoid too many rotations. If your name is on the list but you don’t show up, it will count as an absence according to Smiley Social rules. Please update your RSVP at least 12 hours in advance if your plans change.
- Injuries: Play safely and be mindful of others on the court. Respect positions and avoid risky moves that could lead to injury. If you’re not sure the ball is yours, call it before going for it to avoid collisions.
- Game Rules: Let’s follow the basic volleyball rules, especially the three-touch rule so we can play properly and improve as a team!
What to expect:
We’ll start with a quick warm-up and then jump into friendly games focused on playing, practicing, and enjoying the sport. The purpose of this meetup is to create a fun and supportive environment where we can improve our skills, enjoy competitive games, and connect socially. While we do aim to play seriously and challenge ourselves, the focus is more on growth and enjoyment than simply winning at all costs. That’s why the title doesn’t include “competitive” or “social”—we want a healthy mix of both. This is a space where you won’t be judged for making mistakes, but we do expect a mindset geared toward learning and getting better over time. That said, this group isn’t intended for total beginners; a basic understanding of the game is expected so that everyone can contribute to meaningful and engaging matches. The host holds the right to remove you from the game if he believes that you are at a C level.Skill Level:

The host takes attendance very seriously. Please remove yourself from the event (if you can't make it) as early as possible to allow others to join. You will be marked as a no-show if you don't show up to the event.
One no-show means you will be removed from the group. See the rules below.Q&A
- Bringing your dog is welcome and encouraged.
- Can I come if I don't know how to play? No, you may not. The host does teach a beginner's volleyball class that you may attend on Saturdays.
- Can I be late or leave late? The host expects you to be there on time and leave on time. If you need to come late or leave early, please let the host know ahead of time.
- Can I come even if I am not on the going list? No, sorry
- Why Max the players at 10 when you can do 6v6? This court is already for 2v2; getting 6 players on each side is overkill.
- How can I be I become a regular if I don't ever get to attend? You can attend my other events on weekdays/weekends. Show me you have good skills and bring good vibes!
