What we’re about

## Welcome to SocraticCinema!

SocraticCinema is an open, discussion‑based club that uses the power of conversation to explore ideas through art and reason. Each week, we focus on a single topic or title—whether it’s a film or a philosophical theme—and unpack its deeper meaning through a Socratic style of questioning. No experience in philosophy or film is required—just curiosity and a willingness to share or listen.

What to Expect

  • Welcoming Atmosphere – All perspectives are valued; no background in philosophy or film studies is required.
  • Guided Dialogue – A moderator offers prompts, then the floor opens for free exchange.
  • Film Discussions (Every‑Other Saturday) – We focus on one selected movie (announced in that week’s event). Screenings are not included in the meetup; nor is viewing beforehand required!
  • Philosophy Sessions (Every-Other Wednesday) – These discussions follow the same open, Socratic format but center on philosophical questions, thinkers, and ideas rather than films.
  • Respectful Inquiry – The aim is insight, not debate victory. Active listening and curiosity guide the conversation.

If you enjoy exploring stories, ideas, and the connections between them, you’ll feel right at home. Come ready to share your thoughts—or simply listen and learn.
