About us

A book club for readers who want more than consensus. Named for William Lloyd Garrison and Frederick Douglass, allies turned rivals whose friendship couldn't survive every disagreement but whose shared cause outlasted the rupture, we read books that provoke real conversation: works on justice, faith, history, identity, the future, and the American experiment, alongside fiction and nonfiction that push us to think harder about where we stand and why. Expect thoughtful discussion, respectful disagreement, and a community built on the idea that intellectual honesty and lasting relationship can coexist.
