This group is aimed at forming a community of the many Asian-Americans and allies living in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where we can build meaningful connections and celebrate the rich, cultural heritage and diversity of Asian Americans.
We are: people of Asian-American/Pacific Islander descent and allies who appreciate community and good food! Our group is a safe and inclusive space for people of East, Southeast, South Asian or Pacific Islander descent, including those who are adoptees or bi/multi-racial.
Join us to explore the Twin Cities, make new friends, and of course, eat great food. We look forward to meeting you!
Details/requests:
- Please post a picture of your face so we know who you are.
- Be respectful of the group- especially since events can be small, if you can't make it, notify the organizer ASAP so that someone else can attend.
- We encourage members to suggest and organize their own events that reflect their interests and hobbies.
- Some events are specific spaces for AAPI folks, and some will be for all including allies
- Be kind to everyone- we are all here looking for connection and support!

Welch accepts CASH ONLY $20/tube rentalThe bus will take us up-river and we will float down back to the ticketing area. It takes about 3 hours float per Welch per current water level, and an extra 1/2 hour for tubes logistics. All floats will be tied with strings and we will be floating together in a close cluster form, no one will get left behind (little swimming skills required).
BE ON TIME to help us facilitate large group check-in, getting tubes and bus loading. We will wait about 20 mins after start time before we board the bus. Latecomers will probably have to float with other people there; not recommended to float by yourself.
Welch only accepts CASH payment: $20/tube weekend.
-You can bring your own tube to float but are still required to pay for tube.
-We can bring own tube to float our cooler box at no charge. or rent/split extra tube cost.
-We will check in as a group using our Group Leader's ID deposit with Welch. Or you can check in yourself using your own ID deposit.You could deposit your car keys with the ticketing office, or bring with you in zipped waterproof bags in the cooler box etc. Leave all other valuables at home/in the car for safety. Plenty of free parking including overflow parking. *Carpooling is recommended. Put a note in the comments box if you are looking for carpool or you can offer to drive.
Things to Bring:
* CASH ONLY 20 for tube (+$ if splitting extra cooler box tube cost)
*Your cold beverage (no glass bottles), sandwich lunch and snacks (take your trash home).
* Wear swimwear with t-shirt layer (water may be cold), sunglasses, hat/cap, water sandals (rocky shore)/flipflops, sunscreen, bath towels, change of clothes.
*You may bring a small boom box for music and cellphone for pictures, just make sure they are packed in waterproof bags. Be mentally prepared to drop/lose something in the river, bring cheap sunglasses etc.
*Cellphone reception is sporadic there, so plan ahead with communication. This event is weather-dependent."Glass bottles and containers, styrofoam coolers, kegs, beer bongs, and beads are NOT allowed on the river. Please help us keep the water clean by putting all trash in your bags/cooler box." (Welch)
