King's Park perimeter with a bit extra, starting at Koorak Café (9km loop)
Koorak Cafe, 37 Kings Park Road, Kings Park, AUThey're telling us it might be hot this Thursday so let's do King's Park with mild expected temperatures of 22°C to 28°C during the walk. Plenty of canopy for most of the way.
We begin by meeting outside Koorak Café on the northern side of King's Park.
We start loop by heading clockwise down Jacob's Ladder and up the Kakoda Track 😧. We follow the Cliff Walk, sky walk and Law Walk along the escarpment overlooking the Swan River. We then head along the western boundary before returning to the café. 😊
We should be back in 2 hours, let's relax over a refreshing sparking water, coffee and chat for those who can stay.
Where
Koorak Café, Kulunga Grove. (Click on map for the exact meeting point)
Parking
Plenty of free parking at the car park.
Distance
Approx a 9km loop with 206m elevation.
Difficulty
Mainly bitumen paths with only the Kokoda Track to increase the heart rate. Expect an easy walk but at a reasonable pace (5 to 6 km/h). Not a difficult task for my regular walkers.
What to bring
Water, good walking shoes, hat & sunscreen.
Café after the walk
We will share a chat, coffee and bite to eat at The Koorak Café after the walk. They have good coffee and sparkling, cold water.
Toilets
Near the café and several places along the walk.

City Beach to Bold Park loop then a picnic (10km)
Clancy's Fish Bar, 195 Challenger Parade, City Beach, WA, AUAs promised we will repeat this great walk as summer approaches. Join WMA by having a picnic by the sea after our 10km walk in Bold Park.
Long range forecast is predicting sunny skies with cool temperatures between 21°C to 23°C during the walk.
This walk starts near Clancy’s Fish Bar at City Beach and heads to Bold Park up the Reabold Hill Lookout, Zamia, Hovea, Possum, Camel Heritage, Yoorna, Pine, Sheoak Walks and back to the beach via the million dollar houses. We should complete this walk in 2 hours with a social picnic together afterwards. Optional beach swim for those with enough energy.
What to bring: A gourmet picnic of course but for those who can’t be bothered to prepare something you can buy take away Fish & Chips at Clancy’s Fish Bar who will also provide you with that coffee hit. There are also 2 BBQs just a little north of Clancys that might be free. BYO cold drink, a thermos of hot coffee and a chair/picnic rug. If the weather is favourable perhaps some bathers & towel for a dip in the ocean afterwards.
Where to find us: Meeting at the car park just north of Clancy’s for a prompt start. Click on the map for the exact location.
Parking: Plenty of parking nearby.
Distance: Approx. 10km with the mandatory hill or two.
Difficulty: Some hard compacted limestone paths and a few sandy tracks. Some decent hills are also on the agenda. Expect an easy walk but at a reasonable pace of 6 km/h. I would only recommend it for regular walkers. We should complete the walk in almost 2 hours.
Toilets: Near the meetup point.
