**Saturday, June 27th at 18:00.** Welcome to another wonderful event at [Backstory] Bookshop, celebrating poetry, storytelling, and music! 🎙️Gypsy Lounge is a monthly open mic and a vibrant celebration of diversity, creativity, and connection. Whether you’re eager to share your latest work or simply soak up the atmosphere of artistic expression, Gypsy Lounge is your space. Artist sign-ups will take place on the evening of the event. Just come by at around 17:45, on the evening of the open mic. The first 8 artists will get to sign up. Each artist will have up to 7 minutes to perform or share their work (or up to 2 songs). Monthly journaling with poetry: unlived lives

**Please Note:** Limited spaces for this edition (only 12), as it will be held in a new location that can only host a small group: Libreria Byron! ✨📖 **Writing Through the Year** is a monthly gathering for journal-keepers, poetry lovers, and anyone craving a gentle, reflective, creative ritual 🖊️🌿 In each session, we read a small selection of modern poems and let them guide us into reflective writing with curated journaling prompts. These gatherings are not about writing “well” or analysing poetry, but about noticing what moves us and giving ourselves space to explore it on the page. 💭📓 No writing experience is needed, just bring curiosity, a pen, and your notebook. In July's edition, we will explore the topic of **Unlived Lives.** Inevitably we are forced to make decisions, let go of ideas and people, or choose a certain path that excludes others. In this session, we will do our best to both **honor what wasn't lived** and **what came instead**, and **imagine other lives or worlds we could have inhabited**. Past sessions have included **Burning the Old Year** (January), **Love Letters to Friends** (February), and **Everyday Joy** (March). **Come and spend an evening with poetry, reflection, and gentle creativity**, and discover new dimensions of your life along the way ✨

Wednesday Write-In @Laie

Need some inspiration and/or dedicated writing time for your current WIP? Grab your laptop or notebook and join us at Simply show up at Laie Bookstore (we'll be upstairs). Feel free to jump into working on your own writing project immediately, or wait until the quiet time starting at 5:30. at 5 pm for a bit of writer chat, before diving into an hour and a half of focused writing time. At 7, we head to a nearby bar to discuss how it all went.

Writing Quick and Dirty

This meetup is for anyone—anyone at all—who enjoys playing around with words. You’ll be given a prompt (usually one word, such as “playground” or “shiver”) and time to express yourself in writing in response to it. Anything goes: prose, poetry, lists, letters, lyrics; any form which calls to you and demands expression. After we have finished writing, you will be invited to share your piece with the group (totally optional, but the feedback can be fun). The feedback (this is the only part with rules): Responses should be in the form of what stayed with you, what you remembered from the piece, what resonated with you. This is NOT a writing or craft class; there is no good or bad here. Critiques or suggestions miss the point. This is new, tender writing, and we honor it as such. All writing is considered fictional. This is liberating for the writer, as you are free to write about literally anything and it will never be considered to be “about you.” The first person is always just a character. Please bring your own writing equipment. It is helpful to come on time so you can hear the prompt and have enough time to write. Please buy a drink or snack from Charcha, our generous host.

✍️ ¡BCN Escribe estrena nuevo taller! SOBREMESA DE ESCRITURA EN COMPAÑÍA ¡Bienvenido a nuestra **sobremesa de escritura**! No importa si tienes experiencia o si acabas de empezar. Todo lo que necesitas es algo para escribir y ganas de pasar un rato agradable compartiendo tu interés por las palabras. Sobremesa de Escritura es un espacio para escribir sin prisa, compartir el silencio creativo y dejar que las palabras encuentren su camino. Durante tres horas nos reuniremos para crear en compañía, en un entorno tranquilo y acogedor. La sesión comenzará con una consigna o una lectura que sirva como disparador creativo. A partir de ahí, cada participante desarrollará su propio texto a su ritmo. Durante toda la tarde habrá palabras, ejercicios, libros y otros materiales de apoyo para quienes necesiten un impulso, una pausa o un cambio de rumbo. Al final del encuentro compartiremos la lectura de uno o dos textos elegidos por sorteo y cerraremos la sesión con un breve espacio para comentarios y preguntas. ¡Bienvenido a nuestro **taller de relato corto** de los martes! No importa si tienes experiencia o si acabas de empezar. Todo lo que necesitas es algo para escribir y ganas de pasar un rato agradable compartiendo tu pasión por la escritura. El moderador plantea una consigna y da entre 20 y 30 minutos con el objetivo de que estructures un relato (poema, reflexión, ensayo...). Después cada participante lee su texto en voz alta y lo comentamos entre todos. Una manera divertida de mantener en forma el «músculo» creativo y de encontrar tu propia voz literaria, mientras aprendemos unos de otros. Taquilla inversa, según satisfacción. Los beneficios son para ayudar al mantenimiento de la asociación.

poENtry Slam - Poetry Slam in English in Barcelona

We are back on Thursday the 2nd of July for our last event before the summer holidays at our new venue of the BCN studio in Poble-Sec. Doors open at 7:30pm. We start at 8pm! This is a spoken word and poetry performance tournament in English. We will have 7 slammers this time, and we are very excited to see what they have to say! Hi all ☀️ This is our summer special edition, and we're changing the formula a little. Instead of focusing on a specific theme, we'll read **a selection of poems by Mary Oliver**, one of the most beloved nature poets, and **let each poem inspire our individual journaling and reflective writing**. And what better place for this than a small, green, quiet oasis in the city? 🌿 As always, this gathering is for anyone curious enough to explore their inner world on the page, **you definitely don't need to be a "writer" to attend.** Bring your curiosity, a pen, your notebook, and a snack to share with the group ✨ Looking forward to spending a summer afternoon writing together!

Política y forma en la literatura latinoamericana

Este taller propone trabajar la relación entre política y forma en la literatura latinoamericana a partir de la lectura de fragmentos de Valeria Luiselli, Leila Guerriero, Alejandro Zambra, Elena Poniatowska y César Aira, junto con episodios del podcast 'Las Raras' y el desfile de Moschino sobre Argentina a cargo de Adrian Appiolaza. El eje estará puesto en cómo cada material organiza la experiencia a través de decisiones formales: la construcción de la voz, el uso del archivo, la disposición del relato, el montaje y el lugar desde donde se habla, para pensar la política no como tema sino como modo de configurar lo visible y lo decible. La propuesta incluye un trabajo sostenido de escritura: se ensayarán variaciones de una misma escena con cambios de voz y focalización, reescrituras a partir de materiales documentales, ejercicios de montaje entre registros distintos (crónica, testimonio, ficción), y prácticas que exploren el recorte, la omisión y la disposición del texto en la página. Se buscará que cada participante desarrolle una serie breve en la que ponga a prueba estos procedimientos, atendiendo a cómo la forma produce sentido y modifica la posición del lector.
