Right Bank Writers’ Group — Writing Exercise Workshop

A creative writing workshop brought to you by Paris Lit Up. On the first Saturday of every month, the Right Bank Writers’ Group gets together to write, experiment and see where a prompt might take us. During the workshop, we’ll work through a variety of creative writing exercises exploring things like character, dialogue, description, voice, structure and storytelling. Some exercises might last just a few minutes, while others give you more time to develop an idea. There’s no pressure to produce something polished — the aim is to write, experiment and try things out. There will also be opportunities to share what you’ve written with the group if you’d like to. Whether you write fiction, poetry, nonfiction or something that doesn’t quite fit into a category, you’re welcome. No preparation or existing work is required. Just bring a notebook and a pen. No laptops or tablets. The workshop costs 5€, which helps Paris Lit Up cover the cost of renting the space. Cash and card accepted. A writers’ feedback workshop brought to you by Paris Lit Up. Bring something you’ve been working on — prose, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or anything in between — and get thoughtful feedback from fellow writers. Each writer gets a 20-minute slot, divided between reading their work aloud and receiving feedback from the group. How you divide your time is up to you — as a guide, 1,000 words takes around eight minutes to read aloud. If you’d like to share your work: • Bring at least 10 printed copies for the group. • All genres are welcome. • Reading slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. • If there isn’t enough time for everyone to read, those who miss out will be given priority at the next feedback workshop. You don’t have to bring your own work to take part. Readers, listeners and thoughtful critics are equally welcome. Join us for a relaxed silent-reading session in a warm and welcoming café/bar. Bring your current read (or grab a new one!), settle in with a drink or snack, and enjoy an hour or two of calm, focused reading alongside fellow book lovers. 📖 No pressure, no agenda—just a peaceful moment to unwind, read, and maybe chat a little afterward. 😊 This group/event is an english-speaking one ( although the books don't have to be). We'll try to find a cozy and comfortable nook to settle into but we can't guarantee total silence.
