The Career Labs Job Search Networking Edition 1

Mon, Nov 9, 5:00 PM
From The Career Labs - Job Search Networking in Paris

Find your people before you find your job. Looking for a job in Paris as an international can feel lonely: endless applications, silent inboxes, and nobody to ask what actually works. The Career Labs is a small, honest evening to change that. Real conversations with people who've been where you are, and with people already working in the industries you're aiming for. This is our very first edition. It's free, and spots are limited to 15 people, so the conversations stay real. đŸŽ€ Guest speaker: Ayushman Dash Ayushman is Head of Data & AI at Jus Mundi, the Paris legal-tech company behind the AI assistant Jus AI. He has about 12 years of experience in artificial intelligence, especially natural language processing. Before that, he was an Applied Research Scientist at Element AI, and in 2020 he founded his own startup, Neura, in India. He's built a career across research, startups and industry, in India and in France, and he'll share what he's learned about AI, careers and making it work abroad. Bring your questions. What we'll do * 6:00pm: Welcome and quick intros. Grab a drink and meet the group. * 6:15pm: Rapid-fire networking rounds. Short one-to-one conversations, then switch. You'll meet everyone in the room. * 6:45pm: Fireside chat with Ayushman, followed by open Q&A. * 7:20pm: Live industry insights. Attendees already working in different industries share how hiring really works in their field, what they look for, and what they wish they'd known. * 7:45pm: Open networking. Swap contacts and follow up. * 8:00pm: Wrap-up. Who it's for * International students and recent graduates looking for internships or jobs in Paris. * Internationals changing careers, or new to the French job market. * Professionals happy to share their experience with people starting out. Refaire le monde au comptoir · French conversation B2+ · 1st in-person session

Thu, Nov 19, 5:30 PM
From French Politics, Bistro-Style · Ateliers de conversation B2+

**In-person session: « Comment s’informer en pĂ©riode Ă©lectorale ? »** Pull up a stool! In this session, we’ll look at how the French get their news during an election campaign: newspapers, TV, podcasts, social media
Who do they trust, how do you spot misleading information, and what do opinion polls really tell us? We’ll start from authentic documents (front pages, posts, polls) and then everyone gives their take, and shares how the campaign is covered back home. If major news breaks, the topic may change: we’ll talk about whatever everyone is talking about! **Level**: B2 and up. **Max**: 5 participants.

Frequently asked questions

Job fairs on Meetup are events where professionals and organizations connect to discuss career opportunities, often including networking sessions, workshops, and presentations.

Yes, you can RSVP to a job fair on Meetup. Simply select the event you're interested in, choose 'RSVP,' and you'll be added to the attendee list for that event.

Meetup is free for participants, allowing you to browse and join groups or events at no charge, although some events may have entry fees set by organizers.

It's recommended to dress professionally for job fairs to make a good impression on potential employers. Business attire is typically appropriate unless the dress code states otherwise.

Meetup can help connect you with communities and professionals potentially leading to mentorship opportunities. Networking at events could introduce you to experienced guides in your field.

It varies. While many Paris events may be conducted in French, some hosts offer English-language or bilingual events, depending on the group's focus and intended audience.

Availability depends on local organizers, and not every interest will have active events at all times. Regularly checking and setting up alerts can help you spot new events.

Groups on Meetup are collections of individuals sharing a common interest, where members can suggest and attend events, fostering community for both online and in-person gatherings.

Yes, if you're a Meetup organizer or host, you have the tools to create your own job fair event, allowing others to join and participate when you share and publish the details.

Meetup provides opportunities for networking, but securing a job relies on personal effort, skills, and engagement at events rather than any guarantee from the Meetup service itself.

Not all job fairs in Paris are in-person; some may be held online, offering flexibility to connect with local and international operators or recruiters from home.

If you need to cancel your RSVP last minute, you can update your status on the Meetup app or website, which helps organizers track attendance and plan accordingly.

The success of job fairs on Meetup relies on active participation. While Meetup fosters interaction, the ultimate connection depends on individual networking and engagement.
