Markham Kickball 101: Learn the Game

If you have been curious about kickball but have never played before, or if it has been years since you last stepped on a field, this session is for you. We are hosting a laid-back afternoon in Markham specifically designed to walk through the rules, positioning, and basic techniques of the game. Our goal is to get everyone comfortable with the flow of play so you can feel confident jumping into future social games without any of the pressure that comes with a competitive environment. This is a low-stakes way to meet some new people in the community and get a little bit of exercise while we are at it. You do not need any special equipment, just wear some comfortable sneakers and clothes you can move around in. We will provide the kickballs and bases, and we will take it at a pace that works for everyone. If you have been looking for an excuse to get outside and try something different, we would love to have you join us. Please RSVP if you think you can make it so we have a good idea of how many people to expect.

Casual Board Games and Pub Social After

The Board Games event is a fun, sociable and charitable event We are a fun, friendly and kind group of people mostly in our 20s, 30s and 40s. Beginners are welcome! We are a very inclusive and social group and we teach people how to play games they have not played before :) We provide a variety of 40+ board games. The games usually take 5 or 10 minutes to learn and 30 to 60 minutes to play. Play in French: On the last Friday of the month, we're offering a table where the games are played in French. Anyone with an intermediate level of French who wants to practice while playing is welcome to join. Just ask for Philippe when you arrive. **Time** *Board Games Start time: 630pm - Board Games end time: 10pm *Eat / Drink/ Socialise at a nearby pub afterwards **Location** 30 Leeds St, Toronto, ON M6G 3R8 (Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection) The entrance to the board game room is at the back of the Church. This clinic focuses on the **5-1 offensive system**, helping players understand their individual responsibilities and how each position works together within the larger team structure. Sessions combine instruction, targeted drills, and game-like scenarios so you can learn not just **what to do, but when and why to do it**. **What You’ll Work On:** • **5-1 System:** Learn rotations, positional responsibilities, and how players move within the system • **Serve Receive:** Develop positioning, communication, and responsibilities within serve receive • **Transition Offense:** Learn how to move effectively from defence into attack • **Base Defense:** Understand defensive positioning and how to read developing plays • **Positional Development:** Improve timing, spacing, movement, and awareness within your position • **Decision Making:** Practice reading the play and making faster, more intentional decisions under pressure Drills are designed to simulate **game-like situations**, giving you opportunities to apply the system and tactical concepts in realistic scenarios. Although Fred, your amiable host, starts the event at 3pm, feel free to drop in early as One Star opens at 2pm!
