Wizards & Workouts
Sat, Jun 6, 2:00 PMDo you consider rolling dice strength training? Can you run a D&D campaign, but not a city block? If so, **WIZARDS & WORKOUTS** is for you. My name is Peter Reynolds. I'm a writer and lover of role playing games. I'm also out of shape. I've been looking for ways to motivate myself to start working out with the same enthusiasm I bring to my Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The plan is simple: host a fun, live role playing game where players take on the role of their favourite fantasy characters. The catch? You need to exercise if you want to succeed. Fighting a dragon? A fireball might cost you 5 pushups. Crossing a rooftop? Can you balance on one foot for a minute? By combining simple, low impact exercises, including walking & stretching, with an interactive adventure, we'll all get healthier, have fun and maybe meet some new friends along the way. All fitness levels are welcome (as are dogs), and no previous knowledge of Dungeons & Dragons is necessary. We meet in front of Broadview subway station at 10:00 am sharp and then walk to the Outdoor Fitness Station in Riverdale Park East (there are washrooms). At 11:30 we start walking west, through the park, ending at the Blake House Restaurant \* (Wellesley & Jarvis) by 12:30. There's no costs for the first session. If it proves successful, I'll be looking to create an multi-week campaign that will run through the summer. Details to follow for those that register. Hope to see you there! *\*The Blake House is where our Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writers' Group meets every Saturday from 1pm - 4pm to critique each others work. For more information on this event. Check out our Meetup events page.*

Purchase of food and/or drink is required. Venue address: 667 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4Y 1Z9 Campaign Introduction; It's 1869 A.E. The continent of Ameranth stands on the edge of a new age. Steam engines scream across the plains, cities rise like monuments to ambition, and ancient leylines pulse beneath the soil like the heartbeat of something vast and restless. In the wildlands, the Fey Courts whisper. In the duchies, political tensions simmer. Freedfolk push toward a future they were long denied, while First Peoples defend the ancestral pacts that shaped the land long before any Eldrathi ship crossed the Aurelian Ocean. But Ameranth’s progress is built atop deep scars. Less then a decade ago, the young nation tore itself apart in the Sundering War — a brutal conflict fought over the enslavement of the Chained Folk, the rights of the duchies, and the very soul of the continent. When the smoke cleared, the Abolition Edict shattered the old order, ending the bondage of the Chained Folk and giving rise to the people now known as the Freedfolk. They emerged into freedom with courage and determination, but also into a society that still struggles with the legacy of its own cruelty. The wounds of that war linger in every courtroom, every council hall, every frontier town built atop a battlefield. And into this world step you. You are Meridian Wardens — part troubleshooter, part peacekeeper, part arcane first responder. When a duchy threatens secession, when a telecrystal tower goes dark, when sabotage strikes the rails, or when something ancient stirs beneath the tracks, the Arcane Meridian Consortium sends you. You walk the line between diplomacy and danger, between the living world and the leylines that bind it. Ameranth is racing toward its future. Your job is to make sure the rails hold.
