[Join our new Whatsapp Group for the latest updates!](https://linkshield.co/214) *There is a captcha to prevent bots from joining.* *This event description is available in English, Español and Català below.* # 🇬🇧 ENGLISH ## **Practical information** The class will be given if a minimum of **3 couples** is reached. * The class is **completely free** * The class is taught **in English** * Please RSVP so we can keep the group balanced * Doors open at **18:30** * Doors close at **18:45, be punctual** This **free beginner salsa class** is perfect if you want to learn **Salsa LA style & Cuban**, try dancing for the first time, and meet new people in a relaxed and friendly setting. Whether you’ve just moved to the city, are looking to make new friends, or simply want to start dancing, this class is designed to be easy, social, and pressure-free. *No previous dance experience needed.* ***It is mandatory to fill out your information about roles (leader/follower), so that we know the number of participants for each role.*** ## **What you will learn** * What makes salsa special and how to dance to the music * Basic salsa steps * How leading and following works * Cross body lead and basic turns The focus is on learning the fundamentals while enjoying the social side of dancing. ## **Who this class is for** * Absolute beginners * People new in town * Anyone curious about salsa * Anyone looking to meet people through dance You can come **alone or with a partner**. We rotate partners when exercises allow it, so everyone gets a chance to practice and connect. ## ***FAQ*** ***Here you will find the most commonly asked questions. We give this class as volunteers because we want to introduce dancing to a large audience, and we don't want anyone to be unable to dance because of money. We don't ask for donations, nor do we ask you to buy a ticket or a drink to participate in the class. So please read the FAQ carefully and respect the time and effort of the volunteers.*** ### ***Important note about class balance*** This salsa class is free, which means we cannot control or guarantee the balance between leaders and followers in advance. We also cannot predict exactly who will show up on the day. For that reason, **admission to the class is based on arrival time**. *Once the class reaches maximum capacity, with a balanced number of participants, we may not be able to let more people join.* We understand this can sometimes be frustrating, but this is the fairest way for us to keep the class balanced, organized, and enjoyable for everyone. Please arrive on time to secure your spot. ### **I was X minutes late and I was told I couldn't join / the shutter was closed. Isn't that extreme?** The class always starts 15 minutes after the doors open, for example at 16:15 or 18:15. We already allow an extra 15 minutes for people to arrive. Once the class starts, we cannot stop the class to go back over salsa steps that have already been explained. If you arrive after the class has started, you will have missed part of the lesson and may not be able to follow the steps. This doesn't just affect your experience, but also the classmates who are there to learn, as the whole class can turn into a game of catch-up. Lastly, late arrivals can also make the class uneven in terms of followers and leaders. ### ***I am on the waiting list. Should I still come to the class?*** We try to keep the classes as balanced as possible, so if we notice we are getting too many leaders or followers, we move people to the waiting list. Sadly, not everyone who signs up attends the class, so you can always still show up and see if there is a shortage of leaders or followers. ### ***Want to increase your odds of getting a spot in the class?*** We highly recommend coming with a partner **(leader + follower)**, as we always give priority to pairs. ### ***Why am I on the waiting list if I signed up earlier / first?*** There are two main reasons: either you have attended the class before or, more likely, you previously signed up for a class and didn't show up. Our classes are free. We do this as volunteers because we love introducing people to dancing. ***When you take a spot and don't cancel your attendance at least 24 hours before the event, or don't cancel at all, it means you took a spot that someone else would have gladly taken. So we kindly ask you to change your RSVP accordingly if you can no longer attend.*** *** # 🇪🇸 ESPAÑOL ## **Información práctica** La clase se realizará si se alcanza un mínimo de **3 parejas**.

Taichi is a martial art based in the Taoist philosophy and its vision of the universe, in addition to the improvement of the martial skills of its practitioners, helps to enhance their health, their body awareness, and also can be a path for their personal and spiritual growth. This martial art is set apart from the majority of the other ones you may know. Other martial arts are based in strength and muscle power, but Taichi is instead an answer to the question: ¿Why fight strength with strength when you could use their power against them? If these bits have caught your attention you can come to know Taichi for free, all Sundays taught by Sifu Albert Sala. The lessons start at 9:00 am and run throught 10:30 am in the parc that is at Lleida Street (Carrer Lleida) in front of the building called “El mercat de les flors” (It’s near de subway stations of Plaça Espanya and Poble Sec). We encorage a rational training of Taichi and will help you to prevent posible injuries in its practice. But you have to be conscius and responsable of yourself so we ask of you to comunicate with us any posible health problems or injuries that may be bring harm to you during training. However you have to be aware and concious of your well-being and therefore we hold you ultimately responsible for it.
