Cypress Park to the LA River 5K + Coffee

Cypress Park to the LA River 5K + Coffee

Sun, Sep 20, 2:00 PM
From Cypress Park / Mt. Washington Run Club

Join us for the first Cypress Park / Mt. Washington Run Club meetup. A relaxed neighborhood 5K from Cypress Park to the LA River, followed by optional coffee at 1802 Roasters. This is a social run rather than a race. THE ROUTE We’ll start at 1802 Roasters, follow Granada and San Fernando to the LA River, continue north along the river path and turn around at Spoke Coffee Shop (approx. 1.6 mile mark). The complete out-and-back route is approximately 5K. The first section uses neighborhood streets and includes intersections and uneven pavement. The river section is a shared pedestrian and bicycle path, so please stay to the side and remain aware of approaching cyclists. SCHEDULE 6:50 a.m. — Arrive and meet the group 7:00 a.m. — Welcome and route briefing 7:05 a.m. — Run begins Approximately 7:45 a.m. — Return to 1802 Afterward — Coffee, bagels and conversation! PACE This is a relaxed social run. Our initial target pace is approximately 9-10 minutes per mile. If you normally run faster, you’re welcome to run ahead. WHAT TO BRING Running shoes, water and sun protection. If wearing headphones, please be aware of traffic, bicycles, etc. WHERE TO MEET Meet outside 1802 Roasters at 1206 Cypress Avenue. Look for Samuel out front or near the corner. Please arrive by 6:50. We will begin running at 7:05. PARKING Please do not park in the 1802 Coffee Roasters lot! It is not big enough for us all to leave our cars for our event. There is usually plenty of street parking in this area. Please read posted signs carefully and do not block neighboring driveways. Coffee afterward is optional, and everyone purchases their own. SAFETY Participation is voluntary. Please run within your own abilities and tell the host if you need to stop, turn around or leave the route. The group runs on public streets and a shared path, and participants remain responsible for their own safety.
