Real conversation, real corrections, real progress. This is different from our daily sessions. Same small, friendly group — but this time we meet in person, over coffee, and we help each other get better. THE IDEA Fluency and accuracy pull in different directions. Talk fast and loose, and you build confidence but bake in mistakes. Slow down for every correction, and you kill the flow. Most English learners never find the balance — because most conversation partners either don't correct you at all, or correct you so much you stop talking. We're doing something different. Applying what you see me do during class, you'll do the same for your partner. You'll give them the space to be themselves and say what they want, and occasionally point out, out loud, a mistake they make. That way you help them balance fluency and accuracy, while having a really fun conversation and getting to know one another well. One more thing: I won't be at this one. J'ai découvert Practical Philosophy au Canada et j'ai tellement aimé que j'ai décidé de l'importer à Paris (il y a aussi une branche à Lyon si vous n'êtes pas de la région). **🏛️ C’EST QUOI, LA PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ?** Practical philosophy, c’est un rendez-vous hebdomadaire où des esprits curieux se retrouvent pour creuser un sujet, affûter leur façon de s’exprimer et tisser des liens. Pas besoin d’être un pro de la philo pour participer, tout le monde est le bienvenu ! 😎 L’idée, c’est que la philosophie, ce n’est pas juste pour les profs d’université. Chaque semaine, on choisit un thème et on en discute pour aiguiser notre esprit critique et nos talents de communicants. C'est aussi une manière d'apprendre à mieux se connaître soi-même, en affirmant et argmumentant ce qu'on pense réellement. Bref, on bosse sur trois piliers : **Pensée Critique**, **Communication** et **Communauté** 🙌. **📓 COMMENT ÇA MARCHE ?** Chaque semaine, on se focalise sur un sujet qu’on décortique ensemble. Des questions “d’amorce” sont là pour guider si besoin, mais rien d’obligatoire. * **20h45-21h00** : Tout le monde se regroupe pour faire le point. Chaque groupe partage un résumé rapide (1 minute) de ses conclusions. Le nom de cet exercice serait incorrect si confronter signifiait faire quelque chose. **Toute l'action consiste à habituer à être là**, à un mètre en face d'un autre, sans s'excuser ni bouger, ni sursauter ni se défendre. When you arrive, just tell the friendly folks at La Boheme reception that you are with the writing group. They will give you a little wooden knick-knack with the wifi codes and a number that they use to determine the cost based on time spent (it's 3,80 € per hour, paid at the end). ***Now, about Ready-Set-Write! ..*.** Ready Set Write! is a regular meeting of motivated writers who grab a beverage, then shut up and write. ***What it is:*** An opportunity for writers to get together and do short, intense bursts of writing. We write for 45-ish minutes, take a 15 minute break, rinse & repeat. ***What it is NOT:*** neither a forum for critiquing each other's work, nor shameless self-promoting your projects or groups. **I'm an American English teacher with too much free time this summer. Join me in Luxembourg Garden from 12:30 to 1:30pm every weekday for English conversation practice !
