An afternoon at Urban Climb, Blackburn! If you haven't been to this gym before, you will need to do an induction. This gym also has a bouldering area. We typically start with a warm-up session from 2:00 to 2:30 PM before moving on to top-rope or lead climbing - through you’re welcome to start top-rope or lead as you prefer. If you’re looking for the host, they will be in bouldering area during the warmup. You can also spot the host on climbing wall, easily recognizable by a dangling ducks hanging from their harness.

Reel Rock 20 Film Tour at The Astor Theatre

Join me for a night of climbing films at one of Melbourne's most beautiful old cinemas. Reel Rock is the climbing world's big annual film night, and this one is the 20th edition — big walls, hard projects, and a very enthusiastic crowd that tends to cheer at the screen. The 2026 program lists four films: Colin Haley on a winter solo push on Cerro Torre, Michaela Kiersch chasing the 5.15 and V15 double, adaptive climbers Ben Mayforth and Mo Beck, and Olympic champion Janja Garnbret on Bibliographie. Eventbrite lists the runtime as about 2 hours 30 minutes. We'll meet outside the doors of The Astor Theatre at 6:30pm, say hello, then head in together around 6:40pm to find seats before the films start at 7:00pm. Look out for me near the entrance on Chapel Street. This is a casual social meetup so we can go along together — it isn't run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Reel Rock Film Tour, Adventure Entertainment, or The Astor Theatre. **Urban Climb Blackburn** Never climbed before? No worries at all! You're very welcome here! Just complete a quick safety induction when you arrive and the staff will walk you through everything you need to know to climb safely indoors. It's easy, friendly, and won't take long. The venue has plenty to enjoy, including a bouldering cave, speed wall, sauna facilities, and sparkling water to keep you going. This group is primarily focused on rope climbing, top roping and lead climbing, but if you'd prefer to stick to bouldering while you find your feet, that's absolutely fine too! Many of our members have their lead pass and gear, but there's no pressure at all. **Finding us:** If you arrive on time, look for us gathered around the couches in the bouldering area. We're a friendly bunch, so just come and say hi! Running a little late? No stress, just let the staff up the front know you're with the Climb Meetup group and they'll make an announcement. Someone will come and find you and introduce you around. 🌊 Elwood Coastal Walk & Optional Dinner

📣 Updated start time: 4:00 pm I’ve had to move the walk to the afternoon because of the marathon taking place that morning. You’re also welcome to join us for an optional dinner in Elwood after the walk! Join us for an inclusive walk along the foreshore from Elwood towards St Kilda and back. It’s a chance to get moving, enjoy the coast and spend time together. 📍 Meeting point: In front of Elwood Sailing Club 🕓 Start time: 4:00 pm sharp — please arrive early so we can leave on time. 📏 Distance: Approximately 8 km return, following the same foreshore route both ways. 🚶 Pace: Around 4.5 km/h, though you’re welcome to walk at a pace that suits you. People may walk at different speeds, so the group may spread out. The group won’t wait for everyone to catch up. The route is straightforward, and we can meet at the turnaround point before walking back. Please bring water, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen and an extra layer for the evening. Dogs are welcome 🐕 — please keep them under control and follow local signs. 🍽️ Optional dinner afterwards: If you’d like to stay, join us for dinner in Elwood after the walk. Everyone pays for their own food and drinks. You’re equally welcome to come just for the walk! Street parking may be available nearby; please check the parking signs. This is a volunteer organised event. Please assess whether the walk suits you, take care of your own safety and belongings, and follow the route at your own pace. The organisers cannot supervise participants or take responsibility for individual safety. G'Day walkers! Starting from 'NGV' we walk along the Tan track to MCG and Fitzroy Gardens. The pace will be moderate. The distance is around 5km.
