# Industry and Waterways of Moabit **Theme:** Cycle Loop + History + Architecture + Beer Garden **Time:** 12:00 **Start:** Deutsches Technikmuseum **Distance:** 30 km **Suggested contribution:** €10 This ride tells the story of the ideas, inventions and elegant architecture that transformed Berlin into one of the world's leading scientific and industrial capitals around 1900. We'll cycle through the districts of Kreuzberg, Tiergarten, Moabit, Charlottenburg and Mitte, discovering power stations, research institutes, engineering landmarks, beautiful public buildings and some of Berlin's finest examples of industrial architecture. We'll finish with a beer together by the water. ## The Tour We will follow, more or less, the **"Innovation und Eleganz"** Industrial Heritage Cycle Route, beginning at the Deutsches Technikmuseum before making our way through some of Berlin's former industrial neighbourhoods. We'll visit the pioneering **Kraftwerk Moabit**, the famous **AEG Turbine Factory** designed by Peter Behrens, admire the elegant buildings of **Charlottenburg**. We'll also pass the famous **KPM Porcelain Manufactory**. We'll finish with a well-earned beer together beside the Spree. I am an accredited tour guide in Berlin, specialising in telling stories about the city's industrial heritage. I ask for a contribution of **€10** to help organise the tour and share my knowledge. **Disclaimer:** Please note that all participants attend as group members, not as customers, and are responsible for their own safety. Please read the group description in full for an explanation of the terms and liabilities. ## The Cycling This is a gentle-paced sightseeing ride rather than a sporting event. 🚲 We'll cover around **25 kilometres**, with plenty of stops for stories, photographs and discussion. Anyone with a reasonable bicycle and experience cycling around Berlin should be comfortable on this route. ## What to Bring 🚲 Spare inner tube suitable for your bike 💶 Cash for drinks or snacks 🌧️ Waterproofs (just in case!) ☀️ Suncream 🥪 Water and snacks 😊 Curiosity and a sense of adventure ## Highlights ⚡ Discover how Berlin became one of the world's great centres of science, engineering and innovation 🏭 Visit the legendary AEG Turbine Factory, often described as the birthplace of modern industrial architecture 🔬 Learn how Berlin's scientists, engineers and inventors transformed everyday life around the globe 🏛️ Explore the beautiful campuses of Berlin's pioneering research institutions and universities 💡 See the pioneering Kraftwerk Moabit and discover how electricity changed the modern city 🚰 Hear the remarkable story of Berlin's revolutionary sewer and sanitation system, which became a model for cities worldwide 🏺 Visit the Royal Porcelain Manufactory (KPM) and discover why Berlin porcelain became famous across Europe 🚲 Ride through elegant boulevards, hidden industrial streets and historic waterways linking Berlin's scientific and industrial past 📸 Fantastic photography opportunities combining industrial heritage with some of Berlin's finest architecture 🍺 Finish with a relaxed drink beside the Spree. I estimate the ride will take around **three hours**, including plenty of stops. It should make for a fun Saturday afternoon exploring one of Berlin's most beautiful industrial heritage routes. Hope to see you there! **Simon**

Lento.cc #1 — Lost in Brandenburg Bikepacking Weekend

From Lento.cc

Hola! I’m looking for a few people who’d be up for a 2 & 1/2 day bikepacking adventure from Friday (after work) to Sunday. The plan: 🌲 Explore [Lost-in-Brandenburg Loop](https://bikepacking.com/routes/lost-in-brandenburg-loop/) (from Berlin around Brandenburg and back - find the komoot link below) 🚴 Gravel, forests, lakes & quiet roads ⛺ Camp along the way ☕ Take it at a nice pace, enjoy the ride and the company Around 260 km over 3 days, so a bit of a challenge but totally doable with some cycling experience. The route mixes gravel, sandy forest tracks and beautiful Brandenburg landscapes. No racing, no pressure — just people who want to explore, ride and have a good weekend outside Berlin. We can adapt the route together, find nice camping spots, and make it our own :))) Let me know if you’re interested!

Hi everyone. We'll meet and play a relaxed game of ultimate in Volkspark Rehberge if the weather cooperates. Our games focus on having great team play, where the teams work together to advance the disk down the field. It's more important to work well together as a team than have a few star players get a point with lucky shots. For this reason, players of all skill levels (especially those who have never played) are welcome to join Bring plenty of water, shoes you can run in and comfortable clothing that can get a bit dirty. Although we're an established group, newcomers are always welcome. After the game we try to spend some time together and have fun. Finding us: We meet in this big grassy area, it's a short bike ride from the subway stop Rehberge on the U6 or Amrumer Strasse on the U9. It can be a bit tricky to find the first time, so we've got a few methods to help out (don't trust the meetup map pin, it often shows some point in the park, not the exact spot where we are) 1. GPS: 52°32'54.9"N 13°19'51.0"E ; 52.548581, 13.330842 2. Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/xbZgaXzMSMt 3. the helpful picture here https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/2/8/8/f/highres_451930383.jpeg *This event may also be photographed and/or video-recorded, and published on social media channels such as meetup and eventbrite.* *By participating, you acknowledge and accept the risk of injury while playing Ultimate. Although adherence to the rules, proper equipment, and common sense reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist; and, you willingly and freely assume all such risks.*
