Coffee Connections

A casual (but coordinated) coffee break to meet new friends, take a Zoom break, and get your AM caffeine fix. Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time. Bring a friend or wander in solo. Come for the coffee and company, or just bring a book to read while surrounded by other in-real-life, community-seeking humans. Come by every Friday, or just when you happen to be in town. Make it whatever you need it to be that week. It's not an \*event\* per se, but we hope these Friday meet-ups can become a fixture of the bookshop! Política y forma en la literatura latinoamericana

Este taller propone trabajar la relación entre política y forma en la literatura latinoamericana a partir de la lectura de fragmentos de Valeria Luiselli, Leila Guerriero, Alejandro Zambra, Elena Poniatowska y César Aira, junto con episodios del podcast 'Las Raras' y el desfile de Moschino sobre Argentina a cargo de Adrian Appiolaza. El eje estará puesto en cómo cada material organiza la experiencia a través de decisiones formales: la construcción de la voz, el uso del archivo, la disposición del relato, el montaje y el lugar desde donde se habla, para pensar la política no como tema sino como modo de configurar lo visible y lo decible. La propuesta incluye un trabajo sostenido de escritura: se ensayarán variaciones de una misma escena con cambios de voz y focalización, reescrituras a partir de materiales documentales, ejercicios de montaje entre registros distintos (crónica, testimonio, ficción), y prácticas que exploren el recorte, la omisión y la disposición del texto en la página. Se buscará que cada participante desarrolle una serie breve en la que ponga a prueba estos procedimientos, atendiendo a cómo la forma produce sentido y modifica la posición del lector. Oráculo fúngico

🍄 En este encuentro vamos a activar el juego de cartas 'Seamos como los hongos', de Yasmine Ostendorf-Rodríguez. Cada carta está ilustrada con distintos hongos y contiene una enseñanza, una pregunta, un hecho fúngico o un ejercicio inspirados en el mundo Funga. Los grandes maestros que son los hongos serán nuestros guías para diseñar calendarios cíclicos, pensar en sistemas de intercambio no monetarios, hacer mapas especulativos y más. 🍄 Helen(a) Torres es socióloga, traductora y profesora. Su trabajo se centra en las articulaciones entre lenguaje, artes y políticas desde perspectivas feministas y anticoloniales. Facilita talleres de fabulación especulativa y seminarios centrados en el trabajo de Donna Haraway, de quien ha traducido la mayoría de sus obras y alrededor de cuyas propuestas desarrolla proyectos artísticos y de investigación. Lo haremos con dos autoras mexicanas recién salidas del horno: @lilicuados y @noraaamh. 💐 'A flor de piel' es una novela inquietante y sorprendente sobre la relación entre una hija y una madre y sobre el cuerpo. Cuestiones como el dinero, la clase social o las violencias naturalizadas atraviesan un libro que roza el body horror. En su primera novela, Nora Muñiz aborda la maternidad desde una perspectiva única. Las vicisitudes de la crianza dentro de un universo oscuro que oscila entre las relaciones madre e hija y un microcosmos del horror. “El secreto siempre sale, ensangrentado”, nos dice la voz inusual que narra esta novela, con breves e incisivas puntadas de ternura.
