Cozy Tuesday Book Club: The Authenticity Project

**Welcome to the meeting of our cozy book club!** 📚☕ This time, we’ll discuss The Authenticity Project by Clare Pooley. It starts with a green notebook in which the characters write their most honest truths about themselves. **About** **us:** We are a small book club exploring a variety of genres and authors in coffee places across Barcelona. We come from different backgrounds, and our discussions are in English. However, you may read in any language. We value thoughtful conversations, a relaxed atmosphere, and inclusivity.

MEDIDA POR MEDIDA, de William Shakespeare

En esta ocasión, comentaremos Media por medida, de William Shakespeare. Vincentio, el duque de Viena, hace saber que pretende dejar la ciudad en misión diplomática dejando el gobierno en manos de un juez estricto, Angelo. Bajo el gobierno del duque, las leyes de la ciudad contra la fornicación eran laxas, pero Angelo es conocido por ser muy duro respecto a esos temas. Claudio, un joven noble, está prometido a Juliet; pero habiendo pospuesto la boda la deja embarazada antes de esta. Por ello es castigado por Angelo, y aunque está dispuesto a casarse, la sentencia es la muerte, así que su amigo Lucio visita a Isabella, la hermana de Claudio, una novicia para que interceda con Angelo y así evitar la muerte de Claudio. Una obra que habla de la corrupción del poder, la justicia, la moralidad y el perdón. IMPORTANTE: Por respeto al organizador y a los asistentes, se ruega que los que se apunten al evento pero finalmente no puedan venir, lo notifiquen dándose de baja mediante un RSVP. De lo contrario, no podréis volver en futuros eventos.

Coffee Connections

A casual (but coordinated) coffee break to meet new friends, take a Zoom break, and get your AM caffeine fix. Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time. Bring a friend or wander in solo. Come for the coffee and company, or just bring a book to read while surrounded by other in-real-life, community-seeking humans. Come by every Friday, or just when you happen to be in town. Make it whatever you need it to be that week. It's not an \*event\* per se, but we hope these Friday meet-ups can become a fixture of the bookshop! Gathering spot will be in the downstairs area of the bookshop (near the Community Library). Coffee and tea are 1.50€ and can be purchased at the cash register upstairs. Os propongo una actividad basada en comentar relatos/cuentos que hemos escrito en casa con tiempo y calma. Para el domingo 4 de octubre vamos a escribir sobre "Gente de mal dormir" Escribe con total libertad usando tu creatividad Escribe, canta, declama lo que te surja del alma. Eso sí con un máximo de **dos páginas** (Arial, 12 pt y 1,15 espacio ). Nos encontraremos en la cafetería viena las 11.30h.

**Book club for LGBT+ English-speaking transplants in Barcelona. In October we’re reading: TRUST, by Hernan Diaz** This technically isn't LGBT-themed, but we are more than our gayness! Also, this is the book that brought Dua Lipa and Callum Turner together.
