Pull on your fishnets, sharpen your eyeliner, and prepare to do the Time Warp: our Halloween watch party is getting gloriously weird 👄⚡ There shall be thunder, corsets, mad science, glamorous strangers, and enough glitter to survive several Transylvanian conventions. Costumes highly encouraged, but never required. Dress code: Rocky Horror, any film character, vampires, or simply “I got lost on the way to a very strange party”. Climate Action Book Club: End Times Fascism by Naomi Klein & Astra Taylor

The climate emergency will not be solved by reading books. But by coming together to read, to educate ourselves, to share what we learn with friends and family, and to take action in our corner of the world we can be a small part of the wave of change humanity desperately needs. Sound like something you want to be a part of? We’d love to have you. Join the Climate Action Book Club this month to read End Times Fascism: And the Fight for the Living World, by Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor. This event is free, but please get your copy from the wonderful English bookstore that hosts our book club meetings, Backstory. To cover Meetup fees, we also request a €1 donation. MEDIDA POR MEDIDA, de William Shakespeare

En esta ocasión, comentaremos Media por medida, de William Shakespeare. Vincentio, el duque de Viena, hace saber que pretende dejar la ciudad en misión diplomática dejando el gobierno en manos de un juez estricto, Angelo. Bajo el gobierno del duque, las leyes de la ciudad contra la fornicación eran laxas, pero Angelo es conocido por ser muy duro respecto a esos temas. Claudio, un joven noble, está prometido a Juliet; pero habiendo pospuesto la boda la deja embarazada antes de esta. Por ello es castigado por Angelo, y aunque está dispuesto a casarse, la sentencia es la muerte, así que su amigo Lucio visita a Isabella, la hermana de Claudio, una novicia para que interceda con Angelo y así evitar la muerte de Claudio. Una obra que habla de la corrupción del poder, la justicia, la moralidad y el perdón. IMPORTANTE: Por respeto al organizador y a los asistentes, se ruega que los que se apunten al evento pero finalmente no puedan venir, lo notifiquen dándose de baja mediante un RSVP. **Book club for LGBT+ English-speaking transplants in Barcelona. In October we’re reading: TRUST, by Hernan Diaz** This technically isn't LGBT-themed, but we are more than our gayness! Also, this is the book that brought Dua Lipa and Callum Turner together. As Gays Who Can Read, let us pay tribute to the Patron Diva of Book Nerds by reading the Pulitzer Prize winning "metafiction" about capitalism that got her James Bond Jr., and got us Dua in Schiaparelli and Chanel! #gayrights **We’ll meet Sat, 10 OCT at 11:00am, at VIVARI Coffee & Bakery (Consell de Cent 280)** in L’Eixample to discuss the book, then share in our experiences as friends of Dorothy in a new land. 💅 Everyone in the rainbow alphabet is welcome!
