Gate time: 6 PM **About this Performance** Leimert Park Jazz Festival brings its popular *Sunday Jazz* monthly concert series to The Ford to celebrate the centennial birthday of the legendary trumpeter Miles Davis. Grammy-nominated pianist John Beasley, a former member of Miles’ band, traces the evolution of Miles through distinct creative eras. He and his band illuminate Miles’ relentless commitment to reinvention, from the groundbreaking *Birth of the Cool* to the lyricism of *Kind of Blue* to the electric and fusion explorations of the 1970s and beyond. On the program’s second half, innovators from the Leimert Park Jazz Festival Emerging Artists Collective enter into new artistic terrain, following the tradition of evolution that Davis embodied. Join us for a night that is a living exploration of Miles Davis’ spirit of risk, experimentation, and forward motion. *This performance is supported in part by the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture and the Vladimir & Araxia Buckhantz Foundation.* 6:00 PM

Combining their choreography and contortions with excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s ethereal Swan Lake ballet suite and the fervent *Marche Slave*, the performers share the stage with the orchestra and Chloé Dufresne—a Tchaikovsky specialist and former Dudamel Fellow who makes her Hollywood Bowl debut—during this unforgettable program. The night begins dreamily with selections from *Sleeping Beauty*, and as always, comes down to an explosive finale with the *1812 Overture*, accompanied by the USC Marching Band and our astounding fireworks show. **Refine Your Tango. Deepen the Conversation.** This advanced Tango class is for experienced dancers ready to move beyond steps and into intention, precision, and musical depth. We’ll focus on the subtleties that separate competent dancers from compelling ones — control, timing, embrace, and choice. This is not a review of fundamentals; it’s a space to sharpen them under pressure. Admission is by instructor approval to ensure a focused, high-level learning environment for everyone in the room. **What You’ll Work On:** * Advanced navigation and floorcraft for social milongas * Refined embrace, axis control, and weight transfers * Musical interpretation beyond the phrase — pauses, suspensions, and contrast * Complex turns, changes of direction, and shared balance * Nuanced lead/follow dialogue rooted in technique, not force * Dancing with clarity, calm, and intention **Class Details:** **📅 Every Tuesday, 8:00 PM** **Pricing:** 💲 Single Class: *$17* 💲 Class Pack Options: *$75 for 5 classes* **Prerequisite:** Solid command of Tango fundamentals, comfort with close and open embrace, and regular social dancing experience.
