Beginning Argentine tango with Felipe and Ayano

Felipe Martinez and Ayano Yoneda are back to teach tango in Berkeley! This is a series of four classes geared towards total beginners and almost-beginners. Tango is an improvisational dance based on connection and communication. Felipe and Ayano teach the fundamental structures that give rise to grace, fluidity, and creativity in social dancing. These classes are taught using the terms "leaders" and "followers," and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people. Wednesdays: August 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th 6:45 pm: check-in 7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango 8:00-8:30 pm practica The practicas are included with the classes. Come and join me to watch a theater play Repossessed by Greg Lam (a Bay Area Playwright), directed by Gabriel A. Ross. The story revolves around a couple that have utilized an advanced technology ("LIFE ENHANCED") to implant skills, knowledge, and memories into their brains. However, they also chose to forego the knowledge that they had done this. So, to them, their memories and knowledge seem genuine. What if you could purchase new skills, make yourself more charming, be more compatible with your spouse, get better at math, or maybe just improve your golf score - on the installment plan! "Repossessed" revolves around a couple that have contracted with a corporation ("LIFE ENHANCED") to implant skills, knowledge, and memories into their brains, and delete the knowledge of the implantation, so it seems "natural". All is well and good until they fall behind on payments! This is an all-levels movement class for students looking to expand their knowledge in contemporary dance. **About the class:** The first half of class is dedicated to warm up and exploration. Thursday Night Irish Set Dancing at the Plough and Stars

Come and take part in our decades-long tradition of Irish partner dancing on Thursday nights at the most authentic, most famous, and coziest Irish pub on the West Coast. We have a different band performing live traditional Irish music for us each week. Typical attendance is 15-25 dancers.
