Is This Share Any Good? — A Live Valuation Workshop

Thu, Jul 9, 8:00 AM
From Sydney Money Club
4.8

**Is This Company Any Good? — A Live Valuation Workshop** Think of a company you’d like to understand better. Once you RSVP, please nominate one company in the comments. I’ll choose one from the nominations before the event and walk through how I would analyse it step by step. In beginner-friendly language, we’ll look at the business model, financial statements, profitability, cash flow, debt, valuation and key risks, with the aim of learning how to think clearly about whether a business is high quality or not. This is an educational workshop only. It is not personal financial advice. The goal is to learn the process of business analysis so you can think more clearly about businesses and investing. All levels of experience are welcome. Don't be put off if you know nothing about money, we keep things very beginner friendly! After the company analysis, we’ll stick around for drinks and a relaxed discussion about what we're investing in, personal finance books we're reading, and share tips on getting ahead financially. Bring whatever questions or topics are on your mind, including how to start investing, the big tax changes, property versus shares, ETFs, super, budgeting, risk, or anything else finance-related. The aim is to create a friendly group of like-minded people who want to learn, share ideas and make better long-term decisions with money. **Cost:** $10 cash or PayID on the day.

IMC++ Meetup: Don’t Fear the Alligators

IMC++ Meetup: Don’t Fear the Alligators

Thu, Jun 25, 8:00 AM
From IMC Sydney: Engineering Deep Dives

# Engineering Deep Dives ## IMC++ Meetup: Don’t Fear the Alligators **To register your interest, please visit:** [https://www.imc.com/ap/events/c-event-or-engineering-deep-dives](https://www.imc.com/ap/events/engineering-deep-dives-imc-meetup?utm_source=referral&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=apacexrecruitment&utm_content=engineering-deep-dives) ##### Join us for the next IMC++ meetup featuring 'Don't Fear the Alligators', a practical look at allocators in C++ and how to actually think about them. Expect sharp technical discussion and Q&A. Allocators have a reputation problem. They’re often treated as synonymous with heap allocation and quietly avoided as a result. APIs often get shaped around not using them or working around them entirely. In practice, that can make systems harder to reason about, not easier. We will take a closer look at these misunderstood beasts and their place in the modern C++ ecosystem. Rather than framing allocators as something to embrace or avoid, we'll focus on: * What allocators are (and what they definitely aren't) * Getting more out of existing libraries without fighting them * How they quietly shape API and system design * Practical insights from high-performance systems in the wild **Who this is for** C++ engineers who love system-level thinking and performance. Expect technical discussions, good company, complimentary tech goodies, and a lucky draw on the night. **To register your interest, please visit:** [https://www.imc.com/ap/events/c-event-or-engineering-deep-dives](https://www.imc.com/ap/events/engineering-deep-dives-imc-meetup?utm_source=referral&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=apacexrecruitment&utm_content=engineering-deep-dives) **Please note that we are not monitoring RSVP responses on Meetup.com. You must register via the link above on our website.** Attendance is limited and confirmations will be sent by Friday 19 June. We look forward to seeing you there!
