Nuestro 'term' anterior estuvo hermoso y tuvimos un concierto inolvidable. Esta vez tendremos en total 8 sesiones (Concierto en la última fecha) Durante todas nuestras sesiones, aprenderemos canciones de la tradicionales de Latino América y España (en Castellano principalmente). No es necesario hablar el idioma para entrar al coro! El proceso de aprendizaje es "a oído". Se entregan letras y traducciones de las canciones, y ocasionalmente partituras si alguna pieza está escrita formalmente. ☛ SESIONES HÍBRIDAS: EN PERSONA & EN LÍNEA (AL MISMO TIEMPO) Los ensayos son en persona, pero algunas personas siguen conectándose en línea desde la pandemia. Our Agbé beginners access 3 hour Sunday afternoon workshop covers the basic techniques and rhythms for Maracatu on the Agbé (Shekere). An Agbê is a large, dried gourd or calabash that has been cleaned, polished, and covered with a net of beads. It is played by shaking using both hands, and is accompanied by choreographed dance moves. No previous musical skills required. Instrument provided. Our community of percussionists (and dancers) is a friendly family of people from all over the world who have come together to meet new people and share a love for music, dance, and expression. Members practice impromptu speaking and prepared speeches both in person and virtually in an authentic setting in front of an audience, with feedback provided by qualified evaluators. This is a hybrid event with option to join via Zoom. All guests are always welcome to visit free of charge and won’t be asked to speak unless they wish to. Open weekly Maracatu percussion classes for all levels – beginners to advanced – Newbies very welcome! The classes are run by Sam Alexander, a professional musician, teacher, and artist. He leads the community group Baque de Axé in London, which plays traditional Maracatu Carnival percussion music from Recife in Pernambuco, Brazil. Classes run every Monday from 6:45pm to 9:15pm (Times include set up and pack away, drumming 7:00pm to 9:00pm) and are held in Maxilla Social Club, 2 Maxilla Walk, London, W10 6SW, underneath the Westway, 5 mins from Latimer Road Tube Station on the Hammersmith & City/Circle Lines. £15/session (payable on the evening via contactless reader (referred) or cash). Mahjong is still a niche board game in London — and since it needs **4 players**, it can be hard to organise regular games with just your own friends or family. In many parts of Asia, **Mahjong parlours** bring people together to play. While we’re **not** running a commercial Mahjong club, we *are* here to build a **community**. Many of our players started as complete beginners in our workshops — and now they’re **hooked**! That’s why we created our **🎟️ Just Play tickets**. ### 🌏 DIFFERENT MAHJONG STYLES WELCOME ### 🇭🇰 Hong Kong Style (Main Style) Our main style is **Hong Kong Mahjong**, with a **3 fan minimum to win**.If you know how to play other Chinese styles like **Taiwanese**, **Sichuan**, or **British Mahjong**, you’re still welcome!
