Beginner Spanish Classes (In-Person)
Wed, Oct 7, 9:30 PM**Spanish in Mississauga - Introduction to Spanish** New beginner Spanish language classes in Mississauga In this class, we will explore the Spanish language through 8 modules. We will cover basic concepts which you need to know in any Spanish-speaking country, and we will begin speaking right away and practicing in groups by module 3. The goal is that you gain a basic understanding of the language. Weekly homework is required and active participation is encouraged. **These classes are not free.** Please consider watching an information session to learn more about the structure and how you can be part of this learning community. **Costs:** In-person registration can be made during the first class, and you can pay all classes at once without incurring payment fees (on this platform). You can also register for all classes right here on Eventbrite. **Date:** We will host weekly beginner Spanish classes weekly, for four (4) weeks: * October 7 * October 14 * October 21 * October 28 We may offer a class social - practice in a group setting, restaurant or venue TBD. This is your opportunity to learn language in only four classes! **Time**: Classes will begin at 5:30pm and will end at 6:30pm. **Location:** Mississauga Valley Community Centre Classes will be held in-person . Please ensure that you participate in all four (4) classes, as we have already covered pronunciation and are practicing with our peers by class 2. If you cannot attend all classes, consider joining us next month. We will continue to offer them on the first 4 Wednesdays of each month - participation in all classes is mandatory. **The instructor** Meet Rohit (Vic) Mehta- a fluent spanish speaker who has been a private tutor since 2014. Email dogoodspanish@gmail.com **Frequently Asked Questions:** **Do the classes have a cost?** Yes, classes cost 20 each + fees (if paying online). You can also contribute cash or pay by interac e-transfer. There is an additional textbook available for purchase for 20. **How long are the classes?** Classes are held in-person for one (1) hour per week x 4 weeks. At the end of the weekly sessions, we will invite you to a social on a separate evening or weekend. **What should I bring?** A water bottle, snack, notebook and pen. **Is free parking available?** Yes, the Mississauga Valley Community Centre has ample parking, and is also very accessible by transit. **Can I bring a friend?** Yes absolutely, however all participants need to pay as an individual. We will credit you one (1) FREE class for bringing a friend. **Can I bring my kids?** No, this is an adult only class. The themes are fast-paced and we want all participants to feel comfortable. We can make exceptions for older teenagers. **What if I miss a class?** It is recommended that you attend all four (4) classes in the series. We can make a rare exception and offer a paid, Zoom class, for extreme circumstances. **What if I already took a beginner class?** Consider joining our Intermediate Class 4-part series, from 6:40pm to 7:40pm, beginning on the first Wednesday of each month.

Wed, Oct 7, 8:30 PM\*These classes are not a language exchange, but instead are meant to be a step in between so that students feel confident maintaining in depth and grammatically correct oral conversations outside of class\* \***Meetup event numbers only tend to show new students registering and do not include returning students attending class.** **Per class, there is an average of 7 students.** The first 2 classes are free and then only cost between $18 and $35 depending on which type of class you want to continue with\* These French, English (For Spanish and French speakers only), and Spanish classes are primarily meant for adults who are travellers, or who are planning to live in a French, English, or Spanish-speaking country. The classes are primarily oral-based through guided conversations. They will teach you how to handle conversations in situations such as **"Going to the Convenience Store"**, **"Making Plans"**, **"Negotiating Prices"**, and **"Going out for a Drink"**. To ensure that students get used to using the language automatically, students will learn to maintain contextual conversations with timing before moving on to the next lesson.
