🏖️ Hike on the Beach
Sun, Aug 23, 1:00 PM🌊 Ready to uncover one of Georgian Bay's best-kept secrets? Join us for a day at **Awenda Provincial Park**! We'll hike along a stunning lakeshore trail, hopping past rocky points and hidden coves, all the way to one of the cleanest, calmest beaches around. Once we get there - it's all yours: swim, sunbathe, play beach games, and refuel with a group picnic right on the sand 🍉🏖️ Not into sitting still? There's a bonus short trail to a quiet little lake tucked inside the park - perfect for those who want to keep exploring while the rest of us are working on our tans. 🥾 One trail, two vibes - **hike hard or relax on the beach**, everyone's welcome. ☀️ **What to Expect** • Moderate walk (\~1.5–2 hours total), mostly flat with one rocky/uneven stretch around the point - nothing technical, just watch your footing • No lifeguards at the beach - everyone swims at their own comfort level • Cell signal can be spotty in parts of the park • Washrooms available near the main parking area, not on the beach itself • Weather-dependent - we'll confirm the day before if anything changes ✨ **Price:** $65 - participants without their own transportation 🚶♀️ $40 - participants driving their own car 🚗 (without passengers) - promocode **SELFDRIVE** $25 - participants driving their own car 🚗 and willing to take 3+ passengers (driver pays for gas themselves) - promocode **DRIVEROFF** **Price includes:** guidance throughout the hike, light snacks and transportation coordination for participants without cars. 📍 **Meeting place:** Vaughan subway station ‼ **Difficulty:** Easy 🙋♀️ **Guide:** Kate - an ambassador for hiking and outdoor excursions in all seasons. A coach and advocate for the idea that therapy can save everyone. And what could be more therapeutic than walks in nature?! 🎒 **What to Wear & Bring** • Swimsuit + towel • Closed-toe water shoes or sandals with good grip - a section of the trail near Methodist Point is rocky, and part of it may require walking right along the shoreline. • Comfortable hiking shoes/sneakers for the trail itself • Hat/cap + sunscreen (there's little shade directly on the beach) • Refillable water bottle - bring more than you think you'll need, it's a hot walk • Your own lunch/snacks - light and easy to carry Contact number for the host, exact meeting spot, and other details will be shared with you right after registration, in the comments of this event. Early Morning Hike at the Lake!!! 🌞Scarborough lakeshore. 🌊 🦢
Sun, Aug 30, 11:00 AM
Morning in the Pocket (4.5km)
Sat, Aug 22, 12:15 PMThis one is for the early risers. The Pocket is a pocket-shaped neighbourhood centred around Phin Park. There are not many entry points and the bottom is hemmed off by railway tracks. So, we'll leave through one of two exits on the east. The Pocket has no food options. We have to continue on to the border of Leslieville, where one can find bakeries and one of the best hot chocolates in the city. The hike ends at a legendary Egyptian brunch restaurant that doesn't take reservations. Come early (that's the point of the hike) to avoid 1-hour queues. Additional breakfast options are further east at Little India. **Highlights** 1. Pape/Danforth Library (depart 8:15am) 2. Cranfield House 3. Jones Avenue Adult Centre 4. Greenwood Yard 5. Soul Chocolate (depart 9:10am) 6. Greenwood Park 7. The Redwood / Conci 8. Maha's Brunch (arrive 9:30am) **Neighbourhoods** Blake - Jones > The Pocket > Leslieville **Map** [https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1TWY5OSIYaAywFG-fSF42x8XRz4xKzxQ&usp=sharing](https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1TWY5OSIYaAywFG-fSF42x8XRz4xKzxQ&usp=sharing) **How it works** Hike starts punctually.
