We'll be playing all those lovely games again: dodgeball, capture the flag, hopscotch, stuck in the mud, Simon says, tug of war, Fischer fischer.... And the list goes on..... 5 EURO DONATION FEE PER PERSON IS REQUIRED (on site, in cash), to pay back the Meetup subscription fees and support my Events. READ THE DESCRIPTION WITH THE INFO (IMPORTANT). WHATSAPP LINK BELOW 📳 We will visit Hamburg, one of the most beautiful German cities 💒 ⚓🏘️ and the Fischbeker Heide Natural Reserve 🌿🌲 We take the RE8 train at Berlin Hbf at 08,15 AM (direction Wismar) 🚉😀 and arrives to Hamburg Hbf at 12,38 AM (changing train in Holthusen). The trains are takeable with the Deutschland Ticket. The trip will last 2 days. You can bring your own food🍔 and drinks🥤 or take something in Hamburg. It is better if you use the Saturday morning trip on the train to eat, so when we arrive to Hamburg at 12,38 AM, we have time to visit the city. My plan is, to come back to Berlin, to take the train on Sunday at 15,21 from Hamburg Hbf, but everyone is free to come back earlier or even later. **What we visit on Saturday: the Hamburg City** * Altstadt of the city with its streets, canals 🌊 and bridges 🌉 * Alsterfontäne ⛲ * St. Nikolai and St. Michaelis churches 💒 * Rathaus 🏛️ and Rathausmarkt * Speicherstadt Harbor Area and HafenCity ⚓🏘️ * Elbphilharmonie with panoramic Terrace 📸 * Elbtunnel ⋒ * Elbstrand ⛱️ After about 7PM, when we finish visiting the places mentioned above, we can divide and each group can decide what to do for the evening and night ⏾ For the night: EVERYONE CAN DEDICE AND MUST TAKE HIS/HER OWN ACCOMMODATION 😊😊 (I am not responsible for this) Then we meet again on Sunday morning at the Hamburg Hbf at a given time (I will share on Whatsapp) **What we visit on Sunday: the Fischbeker Heide Natural Reserve** * We take the S Bahn train from Hamburg Hbf to Hamburg-Neugraben (Deutschland Ticket valid) * We make this Hike in the Natural Reserve 🌿🌲: https://www.komoot.com/tour/3111054488 * We take a couple of breaks during the Hike (it must be relaxing) We finally come back to Hamburg Hbf with the S Bahn. to later on come back to Berlin ☀️☀️ I do not provide a "personal support" for people who do not take the indicated train from Berlin to Hamburg. Thanks for understanding. If you have to contact me, make it via Whatsapp, not here on Meetup. WHATSAPP COMMUNITY 💬 to find each other (join it, we use this group to find and synchronize us, as well as post photos) [https://docs.google.com/document/d/157uLVXObKt1a4NqqvPa09NJW-050YBwHLW-7DbOD8R8/](https://docs.google.com/document/d/157uLVXObKt1a4NqqvPa09NJW-050YBwHLW-7DbOD8R8/)

# Industry and Waterways of Moabit **Theme:** Cycle Loop + History + Architecture + Beer Garden **Time:** 12:00 **Start:** Deutsches Technikmuseum **Distance:** 30 km **Suggested contribution:** €10 This ride tells the story of the ideas, inventions and elegant architecture that transformed Berlin into one of the world's leading scientific and industrial capitals around 1900. We'll cycle through the districts of Kreuzberg, Tiergarten, Moabit, Charlottenburg and Mitte, discovering power stations, research institutes, engineering landmarks, beautiful public buildings and some of Berlin's finest examples of industrial architecture. We'll finish with a beer together by the water. ## The Tour We will follow, more or less, the **"Innovation und Eleganz"** Industrial Heritage Cycle Route, beginning at the Deutsches Technikmuseum before making our way through some of Berlin's former industrial neighbourhoods. We'll visit the pioneering **Kraftwerk Moabit**, the famous **AEG Turbine Factory** designed by Peter Behrens, admire the elegant buildings of **Charlottenburg**. We'll also pass the famous **KPM Porcelain Manufactory**. We'll finish with a well-earned beer together beside the Spree. I am an accredited tour guide in Berlin, specialising in telling stories about the city's industrial heritage. I ask for a contribution of **€10** to help organise the tour and share my knowledge. **Disclaimer:** Please note that all participants attend as group members, not as customers, and are responsible for their own safety. Please read the group description in full for an explanation of the terms and liabilities. ## The Cycling This is a gentle-paced sightseeing ride rather than a sporting event. 🚲 We'll cover around **25 kilometres**, with plenty of stops for stories, photographs and discussion. Anyone with a reasonable bicycle and experience cycling around Berlin should be comfortable on this route. ## What to Bring 🚲 Spare inner tube suitable for your bike 💶 Cash for drinks or snacks 🌧️ Waterproofs (just in case!) ☀️ Suncream 🥪 Water and snacks 😊 Curiosity and a sense of adventure ## Highlights ⚡ Discover how Berlin became one of the world's great centres of science, engineering and innovation 🏭 Visit the legendary AEG Turbine Factory, often described as the birthplace of modern industrial architecture 🔬 Learn how Berlin's scientists, engineers and inventors transformed everyday life around the globe 🏛️ Explore the beautiful campuses of Berlin's pioneering research institutions and universities 💡 See the pioneering Kraftwerk Moabit and discover how electricity changed the modern city 🚰 Hear the remarkable story of Berlin's revolutionary sewer and sanitation system, which became a model for cities worldwide 🏺 Visit the Royal Porcelain Manufactory (KPM) and discover why Berlin porcelain became famous across Europe 🚲 Ride through elegant boulevards, hidden industrial streets and historic waterways linking Berlin's scientific and industrial past 📸 Fantastic photography opportunities combining industrial heritage with some of Berlin's finest architecture 🍺 Finish with a relaxed drink beside the Spree. I estimate the ride will take around **three hours**, including plenty of stops. It should make for a fun Saturday afternoon exploring one of Berlin's most beautiful industrial heritage routes. Hope to see you there! **Simon**

Harz Day Trip: Devil's Wall and Witches Mountain

Harz Day Trip: Devil's Wall and Witches Mountain

Sun, Aug 30, 4:00 AM
From Cole Walks Hiking Group

*Journey to the Harz Mountain region, hike along some of the most impressive rock formations, and walk through the magical woodlands, which, according to mythology, are the home of witches and the devil.* Hike Distance: 15km Difficulty: Intermediate Starting in the historical town and UNESCO World Heritage site Quedlinburg, the 15km hikes along the riverfront, alongside the impressive Teufelsmauer (Devil's Wall) - a bizarre, jagged, 20-kilometer-long rock formation - and to the centre of the region, Thale. At Thale, we will scale the local mountain with a cable car and descend on foot through the haunted forests. The Harz region can be reached daily using the Harz Express, a direct train that takes us to and from the region. From here, we will take a steady-paced hike through the region, engaging in nature and looking at the region's beauty. Hiking from Quedlinburg to Thale along the Teufelsmauer (Devil's Wall) is one of the most rewarding point-to-point hikes in the Harz foothills, as it perfectly pairs Quedlinburg's fairy-tale streets with Thale's rugged gorge scenery, using the most spectacular, dramatic stretch of the ancient sandstone ridge as its highway. The final stretch of the hike takes us down the Hexenstieg, a route famed for its witch monuments, history, and legacy, made famous by the Brothers Grimm. The trip will be led by Lonely Planet author and local beer and wine tour guide Daniel Cole. Tickets must be reserved here: https://www.eventbrite.de/e/day-hiking-at-harz-mountains-bodetal-valley-tickets-1993825664234?aff=oddtdtcreator
