Weekend Warriors: 7.0 Mile Urban Hike San Marino/Pasadena, Fast Pace
Sun, Sep 6, 3:30 PMCome join us for a FAST-paced urban hike around the winding hills and beautiful streets of peaceful San Marino and Pasadena. Enjoy the scenery, the architecture, the wide streets, and the cool morning air. **NOTE**: Before signing up, be sure to review the safety guidelines and policies below, including the 'No Crashing'/'Guests Must Also Sign Up' policy and the 'Timeframe for Cancelling an RSVP/Signup' policy. **LEVEL**: Advanced/Fast speed (approximately 16-17 mins per mile), some long street inclines, otherwise moderate plus. We are a friendly group that loves to socialize and encourages newcomers, but please note that moderate+ level of cardio fitness and fast walking speed are required. **LENGTH**: 7.0 miles, some long street inclines. Elevation gain is 300ft. Approximately 2:00 hours. **SPEED**: Advanced/Fast speed of approximately 16-17 mins per mile. We will try to take a quick pause to re-group at the top of stairs and steep hills but our regulars like to keep up a good solid fast pace of about 16-17 minutes per mile. There will be no sweep, so bring your phone for navigation just in case you fall behind or want to leave early. **BRING**: Exercise outfit, workout shoes, and sufficient water. **MEETING POINT**: We will meet for introductions at 8:30 am on the northwest corner of Mission Street and El Molino Road in San Marino, CA 91108, and take off sharply at 8:35 am. **RESTROOMS**: There are none along the way, unless you count any random Port-a-Potties that we might come across along the route. **PARKING**: Free street parking around the intersection of Mission Street and El Molino Road. Parking at your own risk. **'NO CRASHING'/'GUESTS MUST ALSO SIGN UP':** All participants MUST sign up through the Meetup app and check in with the leader upon arrival. If someone is a bringing a guest, then that guest MUST also sign up as well through the Meetup app *before* the hike if space is available. There are NO exceptions. The waitlist, if any, generally clears in order. Members with a good attendance record and a posted picture (LA Hiking Group rule) may get some priority. **TIMEFRAME FOR CANCELLING AN RSVP/SIGNUP**: Please sign up ONLY if you think there's a *realistic* chance that you will make the hike. If folks sign up and then decide that they can't make it, please be sure to change your RSVP to "Not Going" at least 24-36 hours before the scheduled time for the hike in order: (1) allow me to more accurately predict the number of participants on the hike, and (2) allow people on the waitlist to join the hike within a reasonable amount of time of the hike. Waiting until the last minute to cancel (or simply not showing up) is not fair to me and to other LA Hiking members. **PROFILE NAME AND PIC**: Be sure to update your profile to indicate at least your first name and include a picture showing your face, per group policy. This is for your safety and to discourage non-signed-up crashers. **LIABILITY**: The organizer is an untrained and unpaid volunteer. By joining this event each member accepts full and total responsibility for knowing their limits, for all injuries and health issues, assessing all risks, for any material losses, for falling behind, and for getting lost. Each member fully releases the host from any and all liability.

Reservior Hike (if no rain)
Sun, Sep 6, 11:30 PM**There may be some rain coming this weekend. I'm going to schedule this hike and if it's too soggy on Sunday we'll reschedule for next week!** **I will announce a cancellation here an hour or so before the hike if I feel it's not feasible.** Come join us for a loop walk around the reservoir by Watershed Park, we will start at the JPL parking lot (at our usual spot), then walk thru the park, across Devils Gate dam and then circle back up again, getting a good look at all the water now in the reservoir and ponds! **Park and meet at the JPL parking lot, WATCH THE VIDEO LINK below to see where we park!** A few notes: This is a group hike that ***stays together*** as we hike. We wait for people to catch up, we don't split into separate groups with one moving faster than the other. If this group doesn't move fast enough for you, please find another that suits you better. Thanks! We meet at the JPL dirt parking lot. Take the 210 east or west and get off at Windsor and head north (towards the mountains)... make your way down to the parking lot which is a very big dirt lot. Watch this video to show you exactly how to get into the parking area! **https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvy4P6wHxMs** Please give yourself some extra time if this is your first time coming here. Fall ArtNight Pasadena. An art extravaganza!! As well as . . .A Winebar Social
Sun, Sep 20, 1:00 AMArtNight Pasadena happens in Spring and Fall. Moved to FALL HOWEVER . . . if you wish go and host . . . Message me!!! What will happen at ArtNight Pasadena? * Have a ton of fun. * See & experience some Arts 'n' Culture. * Have a great time socializing. **[CLICK HERE](https://www.cityofpasadena.net/artnight/) for what is on the Dance Card for the Evening. (from Fall 2023)** So here is how it works. There are many locations in multiple areas of the city. All with different exhibitions or temporary installations. It's a wider area than you can go on foot for the whole area. So there are shuttles on multiple routes that will loop the city. All this also provided for free and ticketless. **[CLICK HERE](https://www.cityofpasadena.net/artnight/shuttle-map/#all-routes) for the Shuttle Map (from Fall 2023)** There is MORE than you can see in one night. Meaning you will never be able to see everything. So it is best to curate your adventure. For this Meetup . . . We are taking the smart approach. Our Start Point (and end point) The Grdn. The Grdn is the informal and casual step-child of The Cellar, A Wine Library winebar in Pasadena. Yes. That is correct. We have reserved space to have drinks or a bite before, during or after. In other words . . . a home base. Meeting Point: **The Grdn (and The Cellar) are located at:** **26 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91105** The Cellar is . . .like the name implies . . . underground in the cellar. It's also super-fancy. Grdn will be more our speed. The ArtNight event goes from 6PM to 10PM. Our Meet-point will be The Grdn at 6PM. We will have a drink and socialize and then head out around 7:00PM The idea is get to Grdn. Say hello. More and more will arrive. And then head out in groups when ready. There are multiple options of what to do. If folks want to make own plans and head out . . . sure. No prob. I have created a more user friendly version of the locations for folks to use. It is sorted by the routes. And has the numbers that correspond to the map **[CLICK HERE](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gtN4XI9CdYirk2GDGnmK8292onsjwnCWV9aV4lbX1-4/edit?usp=sharing) for the simple digest** **For the main meetup** ***Our plan is to leave Grdn and go by foot to:*** 1. ***Armory Center For The Arts*** 2. ***Parsonâs Nose Theater*** 3. ***Light Bringer Project At Dayone*** 4. ***Pasadena City Hall, Transportation Hub*** 5. ***Usc Pacific Asia Museum*** **The option will be for folks to catch shuttle route at either of those and then make it back to Grdn for the afterparty.** Or you can do the 1 thru 5 and make to Grdn for mellow social. Chances are some (or many) may just stay at GRDN the whole time. And Chances Are that others will arrive to Grdn after we have left and will keep the seats warm till we return. Either way . . . Grdn is expecting us and has space for us. **Parking?** Parking: parkOpedia.com ParkMe.com ParkingPanda.com SpotHero.com OR [https://www.cityofpasadena.net/transportation/parking-info/find-public-parking/#parking-lots-garages](https://www.cityofpasadena.net/transportation/parking-info/find-public-parking/#parking-lots-garages) To attend this event #1 **RSVP on this event with the red RSVP button** *AND THEN* #2 **[Fill out the event form](https://forms.gle/FW4aozDwU1ngkqVu6)**[ https://forms.gle/FW4aozDwU1ngkqVu6](https://forms.gle/FW4aozDwU1ngkqVu6) (spoiler alert: ***if you do not fill out the form you will not get accurate or updated event info)(Meetup messages is not reliable or efficient at getting out info. Too many have notifications turned off)*** **Got questions?** **[Click Here](https://secure.meetup.com/messages/?new_convo=true&member_id=273063881)**[ to send a Direct Message to Marc (screen name Oddie)](https://secure.meetup.com/messages/?new_convo=true&member_id=273063881) (be sure to mention the what event you are talking about) NOTICE: For our events we do not discriminate by Age, Gender, Gender Preference, Ethnicity, National Origin, Race, Color, Religion, or even Belly Button Lint.
