Contact Preston Moore k.preston.moore@gmail.com 614-300-5989 ———————————— Engaging in men’s work is the new way to forge friendships while being open-minded to personal growth. Many men experience healthier relationships, personally and professionally, by engaging in this work. Open Men’s Group is a container for men to share vulnerably without receiving judgment or feedback. We believe that emotionally mature, powerful, compassionate, and purpose-driven men will help heal some of society’s deepest wounds. We support the powerful brilliance of men and we are willing to look at, and take full responsibility for, the pain we are also capable of creating – and suffering. CAPA Summer Movie: UNFORGIVEN at the at the Ohio Theatre!
Wed, Aug 5, 10:50 PMJoin guest host Barb and the group as we get together for a CAPA Summer Movie event to see Clint Eastwood’s Best Picture-winning western, UNFORGIVEN! The film is a complex and brilliant revisionist western that stars Clint Eastwood (who also directs), Gene Hackman, Morgan Feeman and Richard Harris. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: The film follows an Old West gunslinger who reluctantly takes on one last job to avenge an injustice with the help of his old partner and a young would-be gunman calling himself "The Schofield Kid." It stars Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, Richard Harris and Clint Eastwood, who also directs! BUZZ & ACCLAIM: A hit with critics and audiences alike, UNFORGIVEN is hailed as a modern-day masterpiece! Unlike previous westerns, the film avoids simply back-and-white morality by brilliantly deconstructing the romanticized myth of the American west by exploring the brutal, haunting consequences of violence and aging. It won 4 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for Clint Eastwood, Best Editing and Best Supporting Actor for Gene Hackman. The film has an incredible 95% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which says, “As both director and star, Clint Eastwood strips away decades of Hollywood varnish applied to the Wild West, and emerges with a series of harshly eloquent statements about the nature of violence.” Others call it Clint Eastwood’s “finest achievement” and declare, “a better modern western has yet to be made!” In 2004, it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bU6U3qxidhM THE OHIO THEATRE: The Ohio Theatre is located at 39 E. State Street, between 3rd and High Streets, across the street from the Ohio Statehouse. From classical music to modern dance, yearly family traditions to hot concerts, the world’s best artists come to the 2,791-seat, historic Ohio Theatre. The breathtaking details (including the 21-foot-high chandelier!) of its opulent, Spanish-Baroque architecture make any night at the Ohio Theater an event to remember! PRE-SHOW ENTERTAINMENT: Now celebrating his 33rd year as featured organist for the CAPA Summer Movie Series, Clark Wilson will again provide pre-show entertainment at the keyboards and controls of the Ohio Theatre’s treasured “Mighty Morton” theatre organ 30 minutes prior to each screening. PARKING: Parking is available at Columbus Commons Parking Garage off 3rd or Rich Streets or in Statehouse Parking Garage off 3rd Street. You can find out more about parking in Downtown Columbus by visiting the Downtown Columbus website. PLAN: Purchase your ticket for the 7:30pm showing and we’ll meet outside the theater between 6:50 and 7:00pm. We’ll head in early to get good seats and enjoy the pre-show organ music! TICKETS: Tickets just $6 adult / $5 senior and advance purchase is advised! Parking is available under the Capital building, in the nearby garage, or on the nearby streets. You can purchase your ticket at the box office on the day of the event or online here: https://www.capa.com/capa-summer-movie-series/ Look forward to seeing you there, Barb
