[Artist Branding & Social Media Basics](https://learn.soundcollective.com/courses/artist-branding-basics-free-workshop/) is a free, hands-on workshop that introduces the fundamentals of building your identity as an artist in today’s music industry. Hosted in Sound Collective’s New York City studios, this two-hour session focuses on understanding what makes an artist brand effective, how to communicate your story, and how to use social media intentionally to grow an audience. You’ll work through practical exercises alongside experienced music industry professionals, explore real-world examples, and leave with a clearer understanding of how artists develop a recognizable presence online. The Artist Branding & Social Media Basics workshop is designed to give you a genuine first experience, not an overview. No experience or prerequisites required. We will be painting in Central Park under the guidance of a master artist! Please bring something to sit on (towel is fine). Artists and creatives of all skill levels are welcome, including aspiring creatives who are just starting out and professionals. Bring your drawing supplies or whatever creative project you're working on. Digital media like iPad sketching is ideal since the lighting might be a bit dim.

Portrait Drawing (Drop-in)

In these drop-in portrait drawing sessions, students will spend a Saturday learning the fundamentals of portrait drawing with direct access to a professional, classically trained artist for hands-on instruction and feedback. Katya Dennison is an award-winning, classically trained artist. She will walk through the principles of beginning a portrait, followed by basic form rendering. These sessions focus on anatomy, structure, likeness, and precision of materials — giving students the tools to create a confident drawing with visual expression.

Sketch Sutton Place Park!

Sutton Place Park is beautiful, quiet, and out-of-the-way. It has gorgeous views, but it's been 5 years since the group last visited, so let's get together and draw it! **We'll meet at the entrance to the park at 57th Street and Sutton Place. Be careful not to accidentally go to the other part of the park, several blocks lower.** Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at 646-831-9816. Looking forward to sketching with you! *** IMPORTANT: In case of rain, I will let people know early in the morning if it is canceled, and then reschedule for another day. *** What makes our Meetups different from other art groups and classes? There's no instruction, but we like to share our work, and chat and be inspired. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment where all levels of artists are welcome! Instructed Drawing Night at the Met

Instructed Drawing Night at the Met focuses on charcoal pencil drawing through close study of the museum’s Greek and Roman figure sculptures. Our instructor, Elizabeth Johnson, will guide students in developing technical control of charcoal pencils while working from these classical forms. After a brief demonstration, students will create charcoal drawings around the gallery with guidance from the instructor.
