It’s hard to find a place to learn and play American Mahjong in London — that’s why our Mahjong school has expanded to include it. ### **✅ American Mahjong Is Unique!** We play most Mahjong styles at our club, and people often ask if we have a preference, or what really sets them apart. Chinese Mahjong is our root, but American Mahjong brings entirely new rules and fun mechanics like the Charleston. And let’s not forget the stylish tiles and mats — we’ve imported sets straight from the US, because if you’re playing American style, you’ve got to complete the whole look! ### **✅ What Will You Learn?** Starting from the fundamentals of American Mahjong — tile recognition, game setup, reading the National Mah Jongg League card, and, most importantly, how to play a full game with confidence. 🀄 **No prior experience required** — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to learn! 😊 American Mahjong isn’t as beginner-friendly as Chinese Mahjong. This first workshop covers all the foundations, but you’ll want two more sessions to really get comfortable — that’s what our own learning and teaching experience has taught us. It took us around 100 hours of play to get truly confident, which is why we’ve split the tutorials into three parts to help you graduate. ### 🎓 Three Sessions to Graduate • **Workshop 1** — How to play a full game • **Workshop 2** — Strategies in different stages • **Workshop 3** — Scoring and being flexible Ideally, you’ll join our Learner workshop three times, and we’ll update your tutorial along the way to help you graduate. Free art exhibition and sketching session at Morden Hall Park

🌿 Let’s explore a free art exhibition, showcasing the importance and joy in spending time in nature, ahead of a ramble about Morden Park Hall and a sketch. ✨✍️ Welcome 🥾✨ This event is suitable for all, from total beginners to experienced artists. It is a welcoming space to ask others with help on composition, perspective and shading. If you can, please do bring your own sketchbook and materials of your choice – from pencils, pens and markers to charcoal, pastels and paints. I’ll share paper and materials on the day should you need anything. Feel free to bring your own food and drink for a picnic. We could also check out the local cafés ☕️ 🌳🖼️About Morden Hall Park 🖼️🌳 This session will kick off with a visit to the free art exhibition: ‘A little walk on the Wild Side’ by Stephen Bushe. The following bus routes stop on the boundary of the park: 45, 80, 157, 164, 201, 470, and 93. The K5 route terminates at Morden Station. Then it’s a 500-yard walk along Aberconway Road. If you’re travelling by car, it’s just off the A24, and A297 south of Wimbledon, north of Sutton. The car park has limited spaces. It’s on the left (second green gate), and is a pay and display.
