Wandsworth Creative Hangout (Art, Craft & Chat)

Tue, Aug 4, 6:00 PM
From London Art Creation Meetup Group

## 🎨 Creative Hangout: Make Anything (First Session) Join us for a relaxed, social creative evening at The Purple Owl in Wandsworth. This is a space to slow down, get creative, and meet new people in a friendly, no-pressure environment. There are no instructions and no need for any experience. Just bring yourself and whatever you’d like to work on creatively. You’re welcome to: * Draw or sketch (basic materials like charcoal and paper will be available) * Bring your own craft project (painting, crochet, knitting, collage, etc.) * Try something new or simply come along and see what others are making **Important:** Because the venue charges per person, all tickets must be paid in advance to secure your space. This helps us confirm numbers with the venue and make sure everything is set up properly for the session. Whether you come alone or with friends, you’ll be welcomed into a relaxed space to create, chat, and connect. * No experience needed * Bring your own project or use provided materials * Limited spaces available **Location:** The Purple Owl, Wandsworth Food and drink is available at the venue. **This is our first session — come be part of something new.**

The Future: Darkness & Light - Creative Writing + a FREE Book!

From The New Machine (Creative Writing)

[YOU MAY ALSO BOOK DIRECTLY VIA OUR WEBSITE HERE: https://www.writeandpint.com/events/the-future-darkness-light-a-mid-week-writing-session] ... Hi there! For this session, we'll be venturing into the space where future, darkness, and light meet — exploring what lies ahead through the shadows and glimmers of our imagination. 🌗 The session will be hosted by Stu, a teacher, writer, and lover of everything from the classics through to contemporary literary fiction and comedy. ✍️ If you're already writing something, great! And if you're approaching the page for the very first time — that's great, too! 🌱 Whoever you are, we'd love you to come and join us. When you arrive, please feel free to buy yourself a drink at the bar, then come and join us in the upstairs function room and say hello to some new, friendly faces before we begin. 🍺 \*\*\*No experience of creative writing is necessary. \*\*\*No pressure to read your work in front of the group. All you need is a pen and pad, or your laptop, as we'll be using guided prompts, freewriting, and open discussion — inspired by art and writing exploring themes of future, darkness, and light — to explore our senses, our psychology, and what we imagine lies ahead. ✨ You're welcome to use this session to work on something you're already writing, but if you're just starting out, this will also be the perfect opportunity to see what surfaces when you step into the unknown. 🌌 We've been hosting writing workshops, social events, retreats, and courses for 10+ years now and we strive to make our events inclusive, friendly, informative, and highly creative. 🎉 If you have any questions whatsoever, you're very welcome to text 07891948039 and we'll answer as soon as possible! 📱 Otherwise, please RSVP, book the date in your diary — Tuesday 11th August, 7–9:30pm at the Sutton Arms near the Barbican — and join us for what promises to be a wonderfully reflective and playful evening. 🌗 Cheers! ZINE MAKING with LESS STRESS PRESS: cultivate creativity

ZINE MAKING with LESS STRESS PRESS: cultivate creativity

Sun, Aug 9, 11:00 AM
From EXPERIMENTS IN GROUP WISDOM
4.9

A special event to share the creative practice of zine making 💭✍️✂️🎨📖 IN A NUTSHELL, zine making creates opportunities to: * spend time exploring ideas * hone in on something you love or care about: a cause, a message, a skill, a place (the possibilities are endless) * get creative with collage, drawing, writing, printmaking (etc.) * produce compelling and unique booklets that you can print cheaply and share with friends and strangers offline After lots of creative brainstorming of their own, Bonny and Ellie have landed on zine making as the perfect way to both open up space for playful, low stakes creativity, and focus their minds on bite sized projects. You will soon be able to see some of their zines [here](https://www.instagram.com/lessstresspress). They’re excited to share with you! **IN THIS WORKSHOP, we will:** * Introduce the practice * Share some examples: brief history of zine making, LessStressPress examples * Get to know each other’s interests * Brainstorm using collage and scribbles: get into a low stakes, creative headspace * Use a template to plot our zines: 2 covers and 6 pages of content * Design our first zines (everything is possible with analogue materials, but if you love digital design, bring a laptop) * Sharing circle * **Optional finale:** * Visit the print shop visit together * Print copies of our new zines * LESS STRESS PRESS Pop Up: hand out copies of our new zines to strangers :-) **BY THE END OF THE DAY, we'll have** * learned a new practice to spark creativity and clarify thinking * met a new group of people and learned about the things they care enough to make a zine about * had some thought provoking conversations * produced our own original zines, ready to share :-) **NOTES ON THE GENERAL ATMOSPHERE:** Although we’ll be learning a new practice we'll also be aiming to have an enjoyable day, with good humour and fun. This will be less like school and more like a relaxed hang out in a café with an additional creative twist. **WHO SHOULD COME:** Everyone! We believe that the more perspectives, the richer the experience. This group is not about being experts, it is about thinking creatively together and learning new ways to develop and communicate ideas. **WHERE WE'LL MEET:** We'll be meeting in a beautiful little creative studio in Stoke Newington. The exact address will be provided to attendees directly. **[SUBSTACK](https://experimentsingroupwisdom.substack.com/)** \- newsletter and reflections **[WHATSAPP GROUP](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DcSICl49X509EFdGBo3hKg)** \- stay in the loop **[INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/lessstresspress)** \- see what we look like \(content coming soon 😅\) **[WEBSITE](http://www.alltogether.one/)** \- everything else **#creativity #inclusivity #openmindedness #creativepractices #community #newskills #zinemaking**
