Hampstead Heath Spiritual Gathering & Walk

Hampstead Heath Spiritual Gathering & Walk

Sun, Aug 30, 10:00 AM
From Spiritual Creatives
4.8

Our 47th Spiritual Creatives gathering - in person! Come and join us for a lovely walk and talk around Hampstead Heath. We are meeting just outside Hampstead Heath station (London Overground train) at 11.00 on Sunday the 30th of August. Please note: This is NOT Hampstead Station on the Northern Line! It is the Hampstead HEATH station. The Google link is here: [https://goo.gl/maps/AJCNoxkKNj6K9Gp77](https://goo.gl/maps/AJCNoxkKNj6K9Gp77) We will wait for people to arrive until 11.15am and then we will begin walking. If you arrive later, you will only be able to catch up with us at Kenwood House approximately between 12 and 12.30pm. You should be able to find us sitting around as a group having a drink. If the weather permits, you'll find us outside the main café, towards the back. After a short break of 20-30 minutes, we then walk back through the Heath, taking the long way round to Parliament Hill, and conclude our stroll back to Hampstead Heath overground station around 2 to 2.30pm. (Please note that you may become so involved in your conversations that you end up losing sight of the main group! Unfortunately, there is no way for you to catch up with us once we have become separated (and we do NOT check our phones for texts or messages during our walk) so please be mindful and conscious to stay with the main group if you want to keep up. Also please bear in mind that Hampstead Heath can be muddy sometimes, so please wear the appropriate shoes). After returning to Hampstead Heath Overground station, many of our (usually hungry) members like to continue the camaraderie over lunch at one of the local cafés or restaurants. As our group has grown over the years, these gatherings can be quite large, so we usually have to split into smaller parties and explore different venues. Some of our favourite spots are Dominique’s Café (dominiquescafe.co.uk) and Silverberries (silverberry.net), both of which offer a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. It’s a great way to wind down the walk and continue our conversations. Spiritual Creatives is a warm-hearted and popular meetup group, as you can see from our ratings and comments! We hope to meet you then! :-) Best wishes Cliff **Find out more about us at [https://www.spiritualarts.org.uk](https://www.spiritualarts.org.uk/).**

**Join our [MAILING LIST](https://thoughtexperiments.kit.com/59860c6d0d), if you'd like to receive invitations to future events (some of which will be hosted off of meetup).** What is a Zine and why should I make one? Zines are handmade booklets. They can be used to share information, ideas, stories, art (etc.). Zine making creates opportunities to: * spend time exploring ideas * hone in on something you love or care about: a cause, a message, a skill, a place (the possibilities are endless) * get creative with collage, drawing, writing, printmaking (etc.) * produce compelling and unique booklets that you can print cheaply and share with friends and strangers offline After lots of creative brainstorming of their own, Bonny and Ellie have landed on zine making as the perfect way to both open up space for playful, low stakes creativity, and focus their minds on bite sized projects. **Join our [MAILING LIST](https://thoughtexperiments.kit.com/59860c6d0d), if you'd like to receive invitations to future events (some of which will be hosted off of meetup).**

Childhood: A Full Day of Writing + Eating + Drinking + A Free Book + a Pub Quiz!

Childhood: A Full Day of Writing + Eating + Drinking + A Free Book + a Pub Quiz!

Sat, Aug 29, 10:00 AM
From The New Machine (Creative Writing)
4.8

**[YOU CAN ALSO BOOK DIRECTLY VIA OUR WEBSITE: https://www.writeandpint.com/events/childhood-a-full-day-of-creative-writing-eating-drinking-a-free-book-a-pub-quiz]** ... **About the Event** Hi there ✨ Whoever you are, you're warmly invited to join me for a full-day writing workshop ✍️ with: 1. brunch 🍳, 2. tea/coffee ☕, 3. a free Penguin mini modern classic book 4. a late afternoon drink (beer, wine, or soft - you decide) 5. and plenty of space to remember, invent, and get some ideas down on the page 🌱 Together, we'll be writing childhood. Not memoir exactly, not nostalgia exactly — something closer to the strange, half-lit territory where memory and imagination blur, and the child's-eye view sees more than the adult one gives it credit for. We'll read short extracts from poets, novelists, and short story writers who've worked in this territory — including **Katherine Mansfield, Ian McEwan, Jamaica Kincaid, Sharon Olds, William Blake,** and **Vasko Popa** — then use them as springboards for our own guided writing exercises, in poetry or prose fiction, whichever calls to you. What do we mean by childhood? 🤔 We're interested in writing that asks questions like: * What does the child understand that the adult around them doesn't? * Where does memory end and invention begin? * What's lost when we grow up — and what, if anything, is gained? * And what can we unlock in our own writing when we let ourselves see the world at that height again? No strict rules.[ No](http://rules.no/) right answers. Just curiosity, play, and honest language. 🧸 What's the plan? 🗓️ * Arrive at Finch's Pub for tea/coffee ☕ and a gentle warm-up writing session ✍️ * Settle into reading, conversation, supported exploration, and lots more writing 💬 * Break for brunch 🍳 at the pub * Dive back in for an afternoon of deeper writing and creative experiments 🌀 * Wind down with our end-of-day pub quiz! 🧠 What's included? 🎁 * A full day of creative writing workshops & exercises ✨ * Tea or coffee to start ☕ * Brunch at Finch's Pub 🍳 * A free Penguin mini classic 📖 * A drink of your choice in the late afternoon 🍻🍷🥤 * Our end-of-day pub quiz 🎉 By the end of the day, you'll leave with three new pieces of writing — a mix of poetry and prose fiction, whichever you're drawn to — plus fresh ideas to take home and develop in your own time. What do you need to bring? 🎒 * Yourself 🙌 * A pen & pad 🖊️📓 (or a laptop 💻 if you prefer) Our style 🌱 We create a friendly, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere 💜 Everybody is welcome. No experience necessary 🌈 There's no pressure to share or perform in front of the group 🙅 You can take part quietly, actively, or anywhere in between. If you have any doubts or questions, feel free to text me on 📱 07534981636 and I'll do my best to help. Warm wishes 🌞, Sean (A Write & a Pint)
