Fri, Jun 26, 10:30 PMAll levels are welcome. In this class, we will focus on figure drawing and various drawing techniques. We begin with a short discussion/demo of different approaches to drawing. There is a live model for each session. Please bring a pad up to 18×24, a 2H, HB, and 4B pencil, and an eraser. **[If you don't know what to bring we recommend the following supplies](https://amzn.to/47VCpaE)**. This uninstructed session begins with short poses for attendees to warm up. The longest poses are 20 minutes. We take a 5-minute break every 20 minutes. There are cookies and fresh water available. We listen to music while we work. Please bring your supplies (we have limited supplies to lend out). Looking forward to seeing you! PLEASE NOTE: * We can not accommodate dry pastels (for health reasons), open ink containers, or paint other than watercolor. * Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the moderator to prevent disruption to other artists. * Because of the limited space, we can not offer any refunds for the session. Introduction to Drawing for Beginners (3 Sessions) with Simon
Thu, Jun 25, 10:30 PMDo not worry if you don’t know how to draw. This class is specifically designed for you. This class is for you even if you have drawn a bit but want an organized approach to drawing to speed up the learning process and prevent wasted and frustrating efforts. CLASS SCHEDULE: Thursdays, June 25, July 2 and 9. The ticket price includes all three dates. Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing, including paper and pencil basics, how to use shape and form to create depth, measuring and proportion, and rendering form with shade. What we will cover: Session One: We will learn how to draw the 3-dimensional world on a 2-dimensional surface using and enhancing basic forms. Session Two: We will learn how to use proportion in our drawings while adding a more thoughtful approach to our pencil abilities. Session Three: We will learn shading concepts and create a well-formed, proportioned, shaded drawing. Paper: We will examine the difference between Sketch and Drawing paper, smooth and rough surfaces, and those designed for pencils vs. charcoal. Pencils: Students will learn about the different grades of pencils and how to use them to create more effective drawings. We will practice cross-hatching and shading with pencil “washes.” Erasers: Using both kneaded and plastic erasers, students will create different drawing effects in their drawings. Instructed Drawing Night at the Met

Our instructor, Elizabeth Johnson, will guide students in developing technical control of charcoal pencils while working from these classical forms. After a brief demonstration, students will create charcoal drawings around the gallery with guidance from the instructor.
