Written as a diary, it follows a minister's wife in a small prairie town during the Depression. **Discussion focus** * Voice and diary form * Marriage and emotional repression * Religion and small-town life * Prairie isolation * Depression-era Canada * Artistic ambition and failure * What makes a "Canadian" novel You do not need an academic background.
