Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions

Sat, Aug 22, 3:00 PM
From The Board Walks – San Francisco
5.0

[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations. If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!). **HOW IT WORKS** **Step 1: Bring a topic** Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event. **Step 2: Circle up & share** We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds. **Step 3: Walk, talk & float** We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!" **Step 4: Feel more alive** Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times. *For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)* **HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC** A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about. Recent topics include: * "What are you passionate about right now?" * "What makes a good friend?" * "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?" * "How do you want to be remembered?" * "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?" Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter. **WHAT TO EXPECT** This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.* But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here. **FAQ** * Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk! * We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space. * We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space. * Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know. * Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic! **LOGISTICS** * If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event. * This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs. * Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details. * If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. 🤠👋 **IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...** [The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up. * This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).

Meetup: ALL THE DOGS ARE FREE! Celebration of Ridglan Farms Shutting Down

Sat, Aug 22, 6:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9

Ridglan Farms is finally shutting down and by the date of this Meetup the last \~150 beagles will have left their cages to begin their new lives! This historic win for animals follows nearly 10 years of activism, dedication, and hard work by numerous individuals and organizations! In 2017 Direct Action Everywhere investigated and exposed for the first time what Ridglan was doing to dogs. Over the years, various local organizations like Dane4Dogs formed in Wisconsin to fight for the Ridglan dogs and other national groups like the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project and Big Dog Ranch Rescue joined our efforts. People once laughed at the idea that we would ever save the Ridglan dogs, but now they will all be safe, happy and free. Let's celebrate! Come hang out with some of the Ridglan rescues, enjoy vegan cake, and hear from Zoe Rosenberg about the history of this campaign. Fresh coffee, tea, and a delicious plant-based brunch will be provided at the Meetup as well! **Where:** Berkeley Animal Rights Center West (2414 6th St, Berkeley) **When:** Saturday, August 22nd 11am-12:30pm **What:** Community hangout and presentation \- ARC West is a 30 minute walk from North Berkeley BART and only a 10 minute walk from the 51B bus stop at University and 6th St\. \- Dogs that like other dogs are welcome at this event\! \- There will be plant\-based brunch and coffee\, donations accepted \- If you cannot join in person\, you can join at 11:15am on Zoom at this link: [dxe.io/meetupzoom](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdxe.io%2Fmeetupzoom%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExenhTSjRYbU1sZmVhUm5LbnNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR7XSfInQn6f2rrRQ_QR1aS5UCdpytoXYrZyxF10qjtkBPQelsdvOgzvmHmSow_aem_BQtnrCuN44HrmVxJWeyCMw&h=AUCkhd8RYXAM50J7I4uJCzh4v6G2EV_exVMYUZXSjoji-TaMr99s-SqkGkD2qFsY8y16UVgaYeY6Q9h1Jvljrs7iL7nXIMOXAbddGZz2NJ-qoBZWkjT299qOesuQaPo-uREMoIp9Fmgt1J2T-Dqxh0UuPg1oTKEN&__tn__=q&c%5B0%5D=AUBeQKoVcIXREEgpSqAtlXLBJerG5FZI381NYnoQ4k71ASVatycg7s0DocKDnW90VXDhznYhA6_EGljTLjs22yv-NF3LxEsOhZ2yNlrKA6T6USrSxZ27uZ78kdxJZQj61wxG1lBJwuRTZGbY0LIuszCzMHiYXXR5-h4) Every Saturday at 11am we have Meetups for everyone and anyone who cares about animals and making the world a better place! Protest Petco to Stop Selling Animals

Protest Petco to Stop Selling Animals

Sat, Sep 5, 9:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9

Join us in demanding that Petco stop selling animals! Animals are NOT merchandise. Animals sold in Petco, Petsmart, and other pet stores come from horrifically cruel breeding mills and some species are even kidnapped from their habitats in the wild. Shockingly, the majority of animals bred and shipped to pet stores die before they even reach the store shelf. Selling animals is costing millions of them their lives and it’s time for Petco to stop selling them! **When:** Saturday, September 5th, 2pm **Where:** Meet at Franklin Square at the corner of 16th St and Bryant St, San Francisco. We will walk to Petco together **Accessibility:** We will walk a short distance from the meeting location to the store where we will mostly be standing for about an hour If you would like to learn more about this campaign and get involved in the Bay Area to help end the retail sale of animals in pet stores please sign up at [dxe.io/adoptdontshop](http://dxe.io/adoptdontshop?fbclid=IwcGRvZgFleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFQNExud2ZCZmRBQkRCYXJFc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHtrAjAEk5MbhMvXxVVeb8UDNGH5OOltCaqnBHB9nBO11qAvF4RvGaXoXpYhG_aem_1EWAQfIz5VyO7Wb5FivC1g) and take action at [dxe.io/actionsteps](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fdxe.io%2Factionsteps%3Ffbclid%3DIwcGRvZgFleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFQNExud2ZCZmRBQkRCYXJFc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHhhVWzBXx1PuO9vC2ZYAs4oiUHNWj0a--u4hm-kFmj6vms-4QKcdzY--sZZd_aem_eCJGdyJ3UR9Hn1ZBeOovQg&h=AUAWxakAZGHGxacP5NNrwx2vh1ybGV7oLrmAyuwGqlwwTgmNpS9M4FQmDrmZzX3V_WbhwD0dsqdYABRrv-wYd-uNodAUIqxxW9ssE0-NJOMTTGtdrFxJP-DSHOzIfKaFgH5IYI28AeoGYiUxnz5EYU5O9Pu2OwgF&__tn__=q&c%5B0%5D=AUB9cyT-sA-VBxftMLKI3FvOmpKi2tl8NJueWql5aAj6mc-YN4LI4sD7n18Mh89ywVauPyjgRM2X1e62aK8GzqDXXIFqVF9WD1zCNoRdclg8Q3jD0IleYd82xB3wI3ykb6BlyxcZDwmmFR3a_fO2uTRM1Cb1aXMSzfM) \-\-\- Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) is a grassroots network of animal rights activists. Meetup: The Truth About the "Exotic Pet" (Wildlife) Industry

Meetup: The Truth About the "Exotic Pet" (Wildlife) Industry

Sat, Sep 5, 6:00 PM
From Direct Action Everywhere: People Who Love Animals
4.9
