Meetup: ALL THE DOGS ARE FREE! Celebration of Ridglan Farms Shutting Down

Ridglan Farms is finally shutting down and by the date of this Meetup the last \~150 beagles will have left their cages to begin their new lives! This historic win for animals follows nearly 10 years of activism, dedication, and hard work by numerous individuals and organizations! In 2017 Direct Action Everywhere investigated and exposed for the first time what Ridglan was doing to dogs. Over the years, various local organizations like Dane4Dogs formed in Wisconsin to fight for the Ridglan dogs and other national groups like the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project and Big Dog Ranch Rescue joined our efforts. People once laughed at the idea that we would ever save the Ridglan dogs, but now they will all be safe, happy and free. Let's celebrate! Come hang out with some of the Ridglan rescues, enjoy vegan cake, and hear from Zoe Rosenberg about the history of this campaign. Join us in demanding that Petco stop selling animals! Animals are NOT merchandise. Animals sold in Petco, Petsmart, and other pet stores come from horrifically cruel breeding mills and some species are even kidnapped from their habitats in the wild. TownFlame Reunion -- Ferry trip to Angel Island

Returning **alumni** only — this is intentionally capped as a reunion for people who have joined our previous events. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- From our first SF event -- Pillow Fight in Embarcadero on Valentine's Day, it has been half a year already. We have been growing from a small meetup of about 200 people to current size, we have walked many cultural parades and festivals, and volunteered in many of them, **left our footprints** across town, from Chinese New Year to Carnaval, from Embarcadero to Stern Grove. For the coming next half year, we expect to **start more localized regular programs**, the Golden Hour walks, the Volunteer Parties, and at least one more format we are experimenting, and cross region activities as well. So people can meet each other more often, from different angles of life, familiarity and shared purpose birth relations. So does our team, we expect to expand, on top of our current volunteer base. We have seen a lot of **warm hearted** people from our events, so we plan to grow our team, have more people involved, and do a builders' social internally. This is supposed to be a more **intense and tighter** version of the participant social we are having now. More regular gatherings, doing things together, team retreats etc, out of **shared mission,** on top of already established connections. **Note:** The subject tour is of one of the great works of architecture, art and art display in history. It was all created in San Francisco's Marina District, all built in only the two years of, 1913 & 1914. The PPIE ran from Feb.1915 to Dec. And then it vanished. Aside from Bernard Maybeck's Palace of Fine Arts, the re-creation of the California Palace of the Legion of Honor.and some remaining statues and sculptures, all we have left are photos, drawings and written descriptions and accounts of what was there in 1915. But the land this was all on is still there and accessible (except for the Doyle Dr. entry ramp area). By combining the land with the eupherma mentioned above we can virtually recreate in our minds eye what was here. So it is not lost if we don't want it to be! The first tours will develop a summary view that will enable more detailed tours come later. Join in this journey into something very special in the worlds of art and architecture. (An idea conceived by Willis Polk in 1891, that eventually had to overcome not only the devastating 1906 Earthquake and Fire, (which made San Franciscans even more determined to have the Exposition), but the start of World War I in Europe. A quarter of million attended opening day and almost twice that many closing day. Imagine how you would spend your day there in 1915. That's what our tour will attempt to do. As we walk a likely route, we would have chosen in 1915. We'll read descriptions of and look at photos of what was along our route.
