✨ **Community Meal Service at Good Shepherd** Hi everyone, we have an opportunity to come together as a group to serve the homeless and those at risk in our community. During our recent sessions, we served meals, chopped veggies, made sandwiches, and helped prepare pasta. Each session is similar, but the tasks may vary depending on what's needed that day (e.g., sorting food). We had a great time serving together with lots of smiles, laughter, and good energy. \*\*\* **Only 7 spots are available.** If you sign up, please do so with the intention of attending, the organization relies on our numbers for planning. \*\*\* **Quick One Time Free Registration** We'll need a few details, name, emergency contact, and a quick agreement checkbox, to keep everyone safe and coordinated. Once you're registered, head to our Events page and click "Register" on this event, that's it. Register here: [https://torontojoy.org/register/](https://torontojoy.org/register/) Events page: [https://torontojoy.org/events/](https://torontojoy.org/events/) **Arrival Information** When you arrive at Reception, staff will guide you to the volunteer room, where you can place your belongings in a locker and meet the group. Avengers’ Saturday Cafe for the Homeless

Avengers’ Saturday Cafe for the Homeless

Sat, Sep 12, 3:00 PM
From The Avengers Club
5.0

Note: You may be removed from the attendance list if you've participated in the previous week's event. This allows for more people to experience this Meetup. Avengers put your costumes on and let’s go and save the world!
Well we can’t save the world (yet), but we aim to try to play a small part in the lives of those experiencing homelessness by making their day a bit better!
Description: Before the event the organizer will post a list in the comment section of the attendees and what they are responsible to bring (food/drink, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies). We normally ask each attending member to bring approximately $15-20 worth of ingredients/supplies to our event. We will use the items to prepare and serve food/drink at The Meeting Place.
Timeline: We will meet on location at 11:00 am, with lunch served between 12:30-1:00 pm.
Membership Dues: Membership dues are $2.00 for the calendar year. Membership dues go towards paying for food/supplies incurred by no-shows. Membership dues are due at the first meetup of the year that you attend.
No Shows/Late Un-RSVP: We’re relying on members who RSVP to bring key ingredients for recipes! Please try your best to show-up or alternatively change your RSVP early so another member may fill the empty spot.
\*\*\* If you are on the waitlist, keep checking as you may be moved into attendance to replace someone. We will try to message you to confirm your attendance in advance.
Donations will be assigned before the event.

Building Hope Gala Dinner

Building Hope Gala Dinner

Sat, Sep 12, 11:30 PM
From Catholic Hang-out / Social Group
4.9

The Shalom Catholic Community in Toronto is hosting a Building Hope Gala Dinner to raise funds for the construction of the Espaço Educativo de Paz (Educational Space for Peace) in Lubango, Angola. [Register here ](https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/building-hope-gala-dinner) Lubango is home to many families living in extreme poverty. The Shalom mission there currently serves the local community through prayer groups, home visits, and the distribution of food to approximately 30 families. One of the greatest challenges the missionaries face is the lack of a safe and dedicated space where children and youth can gather, learn, and grow. Access to even basic medical care is also very limited. The Espaço Educativo de Paz will provide a place of hope for approximately 80 children and adolescents. It will offer educational support, vocational training, faith formation, recreational activities, and a health post to meet basic medical needs. By attending the gala dinner—or by making a donation—you can help make this project a reality and offer these young people a brighter future.
