(Co-hosts required) 🎨 Street Art Photo Walk & Conversation - Fitzroy
Sun, Sep 20, 6:30 AM***\*\*Interested in co-hosting this event? Message Sarah Rus to learn more\*\*\**** Join us at 4:30pm for a relaxed street art walk through Fitzroy, exploring laneways, murals and hidden creative spots while conversation unfolds naturally along the way. **Where to meet:** out the back of 322 Brusbwick Street - look for the group on the footpath. We start walking at 4:45pm sharp. If you love photography, bring your camera or smartphone (charged) to snap some fun photos along the way. We often pose in front of our favourite artworks. Be prepared to be silly with us 🤪 (optional, of course.) This event is about moving at a comfortable pace, noticing what's around us, and letting conversation unfold organically as we walk. There's no need for art knowledge - curiosity is more than enough. The walk has a light structure to help things flow, but nothing rigid. You're welcome to chat as much or as little as you like, and enjoy the experience your own way. Running late? Use the map in the photos to catch us up, and keep an eye on the group as we move between laneways. **Recommended:** download the [Street Art Cities](https://streetartcities.com/) app, which we'll use to hunt down the art. After the walk (around 6pm) you're welcome to stay on for dinner nearby - completely optional. Head back to where we started and choose between: * Hecho En Mexico, 326 Brunswick Street * Yeshi Ethiopian Restaurant, 328 Brunswick Street * Tawooq Fitzroy Lebanese, 329 Brunswick Street Have a chat on the walk and decide together where you'd like to eat. Best suited to adults who are **young-at-heart** and enjoy exploring the city, being outdoors and connecting through shared experiences. Most of our members are somewhere between 25 and 50. Strictly 18+. Sometimes the day doesn't go entirely to plan - a laneway is closed, the group spreads out, the weather turns. That's part of it. Come as you are, keep an eye on the plan, and enjoy what's in front of you. Conversation's an invitation here, never an obligation. Can't wait to see who shows up. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **HOST RESOURCES:** [https://mastercoaches.net/good-conversation-club-questions.pdf](https://mastercoaches.net/good-conversation-club-questions.pdf) Print double sided. Cut up cards. Hand out at start of event. Guide people to introduce themselves to other guests eg eg talk to someone wearing the same colour or someone who is similar height.

The Art of Christian Waller
Sat, Aug 29, 3:30 AMBorn in Castlemaine, Victoria on the 2nd August 1894, Christian Waller was an intensely spiritual artist whose drawings, paintings, murals, stained glass windows and prints are permeated with her unique synthesis of Christianity and Theosophy. Inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement, Symbolism, the Celtic Revival and by Theosophy and Hermetic Lore, Christian’s exemplary skills and superb artistic achievements shall be brought to light in this presentation by Dr Caroline Miley. *‘Pure and sublime thoughts create vibrations that appear as a ‘marvelous play of colour, like that in the spray of a waterfall as the sunlight strikes it.’.. Both suggest that radiance from a brilliant source can influence the rest of humanity.’* From 'Thought Forms' by Annie Besant & C.W. Leadbeater **Dr Caroline Miley** has lectured in Art History and Theory at the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) and was curator of the College Collection. She consults for heritage architects and has published a number of pioneering books on the Arts and Crafts Movement in Australia. She is the author of ***‘Christian Waller Stained Glass; Towards the Light***’. Inclusive Grief Circle: Honouring Loss Through Ceremony, Community & Creativity
Sun, Sep 13, 8:30 AMRead reviews from past participants [here](https://www.greenhousecreativesanctuary.com/inclusivegrief) “Grief has never been private, it has always been communal. Subconsciously, we are awaiting the presence of others, before we can feel safe enough to drop to our knees on the holy ground of sorrow. For the most part, grief is not a problem to be solved, not a condition to be medicated, but a deep encounter with an essential experience of being human. Grief becomes problematic when the conditions needed to help us work with grief are absent.” - Francis Weller Our primary association with grief is the loss of a loved one but there are so many kinds of losses that don't have formal ceremonies that are important to honour. Unprocessed grief can accumulate in weight, dulling our senses and capacity for aliveness. This is a safe, supportive space for all shapes, sizes and textures of grief- for the loss of our loved ones, for the childhood we did not get to have, for the parts of ourselves that have been rejected and exiled, for friendships and relationships with ambiguous endings, for homes and communities we are distanced from and miss, for the suffering of the world and our fellow beings. This inclusive grief circle is also an advocacy for compassionate and attentive grief work, for reshaping our understanding of and relationship with grief. It is a holding space, a container, a time and a deep permission to acknowledge our emotions, our connections, the ways we have been touched and transformed, and our humanity. We will make art in response to the Grief Deck, share and witness each other’s stories and journeys, and co-create a group nature mandala together. **Please bring a jar and 8-10 similar natural objects (8 flowers or 8 sticks or 8 stones).** If you are facing financial hardship, please key in CONCESSION as a promo code for a discounted price of $25. If that is still difficult, please email me at greenhouse.arttherapy@gmail.com. No one will be turned away. **Please also note:** * This is an art-therapy informed community-based creative workshop, and is not intended to replace individual or group therapy, and is also not for emergency crisis support or intervention. * If you are comfortable with me taking photos of you and/or your artwork for learning and supervision purposes, and to offer others a sense of what the workshop is like, please let me know at the start of the session. Your participation would be greatly appreciated! * While the estimated time is 2 hours, it might overrun depending on the size of the group and the conversations we are having so please allow some grace for that.

23 Aug: Figurine Painting and Friends-Social
Sun, Aug 23, 3:00 AM**✨Are you tired of making ‘how are you’ friends? This event is for you!✨** 🎨What better way to build and deepen connections than through a fun activity like **Figurine painting**! There are many social events but it isn’t easy to feel connected to someone in a large group setting. I am super extroverted yet found myself walking home after a great social feeling more lonely, because of all the superficial connections made. I started Hue&Crew to help people build their next close-friend circle based on age, personality and interest! 🎨**What to Expect** This isn’t a big mixer event, every event has a limit of 6 people per table and a fishbowl full of conversation starters to help people get started! We move around Melbourne's many beautiful cafes weekly to keep things fresh! Expect: * A fresh, comfy venue * A hosted structure so you’re never left awkwardly quiet * A fishbowl of conversation starters for the introverts * A relaxed atmosphere where you can genuinely be yourself * Hand-painted figurines you made yourself to bring home Each group is curated to feel natural, matched by age, interest and personality 🎨**Notice before you sign up:** As the events are really small and it might take some time to form a group with similar interests, we will inform you when there is a suitable group for you! **RSVP now:** [https://forms.gle/4MN6oygujee9qmej9](https://forms.gle/4MN6oygujee9qmej9) **Take a look at our instagram page to see past public events**👇 [https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXY8PXADXsm/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXY8PXADXsm/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) **Bring a friend for a 10% Discount for the both of you!**

Sketching at Bundoora Homestead
Fri, Oct 16, 12:00 AMHey Guys, For this event, we'll be sketching at Bundoora Homestead. A Queen Anne Federation styled, heritage home built in 1900 on Wurundjeri grounds by John Matthews and Vincent Smith. The property had previously served as a family home and repatriation facility before being refurbished as a public gallery in 2001. **Meetup Details:** We'll be meeting at the centre entrance at **11:00am** before making our way to the Cafe (adjacent to the exhibition entrance.) I've booked a table for 11 people. You guys can chill, draw, have something to eat/drink, and soak in the view of the Mansion gardens before viewing the exhibition upstairs. Or if you want, do it the other way around. *If you're looking to eat something substantial, I highly recommend having lunch beforehand as the cafe only serves light refreshments* **Public Transport and Parking:** **Route 86 tram** You can get off either at **Mt Cooper Dr** or **Greenwood Dr** to get to the homestead. **Mt Cooper Dr** (quicker route in my opinion) * Turn **Right onto Mt Cooper Dr** * Turn **Left at Boadle Rd** * Turn **Right on JV Smith Street (no through Road)** * **Walk Right on Snake Gully Dr** till you see a **wooden gate**, the main entrance is accessible from there. **Greenwood Dr:** * Turn Right onto Greenwood Dr and continue straight down the pathway near the cricket grounds till you see the homestead. **Parking:** * Parking is located directly in front of the venue and it's free :) Looking forward to meeting you guys there :)
