In late August 2024, a tiny Berlin origami meetup quietly came to life... Since then, hundreds of folds, chats, experiments, collaborations, and spontaneous moments later… here we are marching towards our **SECOND anniversary** already!! 🤩 To mark this occasion, we are gonna throw a relaxed summer celebration at **Volkspark Friedrichshain**, powered by sunshine, blankets, snacks and good vibes!! 🧺☀️ The final location is not yet finalised, but the spirit of the day is simply bringing people together and celebrating the past two years together! 🤗 A simple agenda for your reference: 1. **Bring and share whatever you like** – food, drinks, cutlery, music gears, card games, or extra paper. No rules – the sky is the limit! 2. **Gather and set up a cozy picnic spot together** – if you own a picnic blanket, please bring one along! 3. **A moment to look back & ahead** – community storytelling, memories and reflections, hopes for the year ahead (surprises and chaos might be included, but that's part of the fun, right? 👀) 4. **(Optional) Origami show time** – bring your favorite model, tell us the story behind it, share folding tips and/or replicas with the group! And truly: thank you for helping shape this community into such a welcoming, creative, and alive little corner of Berlin. Every person who attended an event, taught a fold, hosted a meetup, helped newcomers, or simply spent an afternoon folding with us became part of this story. More details coming soon — but for now, save some space in your calendar for a very special summer gathering 🥳 Warm greetings to each and everyone of you, Shiyi

How to the find the FOODFACTORY Cube Berlin (Effe&Gold):** Washingtonpl. 3, 10557 Berlin [https://g.page/foodfactorycubeberlin?share](https://g.page/foodfactorycubeberlin?share) This is just our gathering spot this time. Exploring Gärten der Welt:** We'll first get lost in the maze. Afterwards we explore the Korean Garden and have dinner nearby. Next goals is the Chinese Garden to the see the diversified stage program including traditional dance, music. The grand final is the light show and the fireworks at the stage. Authentic Chinese, Korean and Japanese food will be available at certain food stalls. *Who is this meetup for:* 1\. Asians who want to practice German and/or English\. 2\. German speaking individuals who are studying \(preferably\) Japanese\, Korean\, Mandarin or Cantonese\. 3\. Anyone who is interested in cultural exchange and wants to socialize\. *What you can expect:* 1\. A professionally organized meetup that can adapt to any changes given the current situation\. 2\. A Walk & Talk to break the ice\. 3\. A collaborating venue where you can further socialize with other members\. *** Whenever you attend a meetup, the most common as well as first question you get is: "Where are you from?" You probably heard this question a million times. Well, at least I did. From my own experience of attending over 200 international meetups in various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand, I can tell you that asking for the name is a better approach. “A person’s name is to that person, the sweetest, most important sound in any language.” - Dale Carnegie If you really want to connect with like-minded people you should remember their name, but you don't have to remember every persons name you've talked you. Be picky about that, don't be me who can somehow remember everyones name easily. Don't tell yourself sth. like "I'm bad at remembering names." It's all about developing the habit of asking for a name and keep the conversation going on. Furthermore, you want to learn German or any other language. Learning the local language is crucial to connect with the locals and developing a true friendship. This can be accomplished with immersion. My goal is to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and improve yourself each time you join this meetup.

Let's unfold September together at **[Blumental](https://blumental-berlin.de/)**, one of our favourite venues with warmth and excellent hospitality --- join us in this folding adventure and you will not be disappointed! 🤩 What you can expect at all our events: * **In-person folding practice for all levels** – beginners and experienced folders are equally welcome. * **Origami paper + model instructions will be provided** (from the host’s collection, for reference only). Feel free to bring your own favorite sheets or tools! * **Donation of an amount of your choice** – this supports essential costs like the Meetup subscription and keeps our community thriving 🌱 You can either submit a physical donation to the event host in person or make a digital donation here (and inform the host afterwards). * Photos may be taken for memories & our archive (Meetup, [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/origamiandbeyond/) and [Telegram](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi)) – let the host know if you prefer not to appear. * **We kindly encourage everyone to order at least one drink/snack to support** **[Blumental](https://blumental-berlin.de/)** **for hosting us!** ⚠️ **RSVP Policy – Please Read** ⚠️
Our community has grown a lot since its birth in August 2024, which is amazing — but it also means we need to handle RSVPs more carefully: * RSVP opens 7 days before each event (apart from short-notice events) and closes at noon on the event day. * Please cancel your spot or contact the host directly (via Meetup message function or our [Telegram](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi) channel) by noon on the event day if you can't make it last minute. * Members with 2 no-shows (without notice) will be removed from the group unless a valid reason is provided. Thank you for helping us keep Origami Crafters Berlin respectful, reliable, and fun! 🙏 Get in touch if you have questions and see you all at the folding tables very soon! ☕️🍁
