🌕🐺 ***I have dreams of showing myself in full form, as whatever I suppress inside of me slowly makes me lose my mind. A full moon is blooming...*** 👋 **Hey guys!** I suppose I should start by saying how much I love werewolves, and when it comes to movies about them, not many people get it right. And I should know, since **I happen to be a werewolf myself**, of a certain kind. This **masterpiece** was directed by **John Landis**, who spent over a decade trying to get the film made. It brilliantly balances **genuine, blood-chilling horror with sharp dark humour**, while completely revolutionising practical effects through the work of master makeup artist **Rick Baker**. And it’s the kind of practical movie magic that we hardly see these days. **The film,** made way back in **1981**, follows two American backpackers who are attacked by a nasty beast on the English moors. One is killed, while the survivor, David, is left with a bloody bite wound. While recovering in hospital, in London, he is haunted by his dead friend, who warns him of his looming transformation into a werewolf at the next full moon. **This film is so sick.** **The Meetup:** We’ll be gathering at the **Victory House Wine Bar at 7:30 pm** to talk about the different kinds of **lycanthropy and werewolves**. Scarface is a 1983 American epic crime drama film directed by Brian De Palma from a screenplay by Oliver Stone. It is loosely based on the 1930 novel by Armitage Trail and a remake of the 1932 film of the same name directed by Howard Hawks. The film stars an ensemble cast led by Al Pacino, who stars as Cuban refugee Tony Montana. In the film, Montana arrives in Miami during the Mariel boatlift and becomes a powerful drug lord. The films in this programme approach the work that music does from very different places and perspectives. In *Singing Pictures – Women Painters of Naya*, songs accompany the painted scrolls of women in West Bengal, carrying knowledge while contributing to changes within their community. *Mind, Hands, Work – Fidel Sambou Builds an Ekonting* follows a Senegalese musician and sculptor as he makes an ekonting, revealing the relationship between craft, sound, memory and tradition. In *The Beat Goes On*, samba brings generations together through the shared practice of carnival. Finally, *Ghetto PSA* portrays a young migrant in Turin who uses hip hop to reflect on his past, his displacement and his place in his new surroundings. Moving between South Asia, West Africa, South America and Europe, the films reveal music as something deeply connected to everyday life. It can be a form of work, a repository of knowledge, a means of belonging, an expression of resistance, or a way of making sense of who we are and where we come from. **What Work Does Music Do?** invites us to listen differently – and to ask what music makes possible.

Manhunter: The Final Cut @ The PCC

William Petersen, Brian Cox (as Hannibal Lector), and Dennis Farina in movie directed by Michael Mann, what’s not to love? Critically and commercially ignored at the time of release, it is finally getting its dues. A gorgeous colour palette, and escalating tension makes this a top-5 favourite for many of the organisers (and members) of this group, now finally receiving a 4K restoration and new director’s cut, arriving on the big screen. It is a bit early to call this fairly short film a classic, but this 2026 French film has got very good reviews and has won some awards as well... The Comédie-Française is one of France’s most revered arts institutions, and the oldest still-performing theatre company in the world. There is one golden rule: the play is never cancelled. Unfortunately for theatre producer Nina (Pauline Clément), everything is unravelling just three hours before the premiere of her first production – an ambitious retelling of Shakespeare’s *Macbeth*. Her lead actor is stuck on a train, tensions are exploding, passions flaring, equipment breaking down and egos are clashing. With panic setting in and the clock ticking, Nina must hold the show together at all costs. Will the show go on? France’s big comedy of the summer (2026) and the runaway winner of four awards at the Alpe d’Huez comedy Film Festival, *Comédie Française* is a delicious behind-the-scenes farce which is unafraid to poke fun at the highbrow reputation of French theatre.
