🐺🎬"AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON

🐺🎬"AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON

Mon, Oct 5, 6:30 PM
From 🎥 THE HIDEOUT: FILM CLUB LONDON
4.7

🌕🐺 ***I have dreams of showing myself in full form, as whatever I suppress inside of me slowly makes me lose my mind. A full moon is blooming...*** 👋 **Hey guys!** I suppose I should start by saying how much I love werewolves, and when it comes to movies about them, not many people get it right. And I should know, since **I happen to be a werewolf myself**, of a certain kind\*\*.\*\* This **masterpiece** was directed by **John Landis**, who spent over a decade trying to get the film made. It brilliantly balances **genuine, blood-chilling horror with sharp dark humour**, while completely revolutionising practical effects through the work of master makeup artist **Rick Baker**. And it’s the kind of practical movie magic that we hardly see these days. **The film,** made way back in **1981**, follows two American backpackers who are attacked by a nasty beast on the English moors. One is killed, while the survivor, David, is left with a bloody bite wound. While recovering in hospital, in London, he is haunted by his dead friend, who warns him of his looming transformation into a werewolf at the next full moon. **This film is so sick.** **The Meetup:** We’ll be gathering at the **Victory House Wine Bar at 7:30 pm** to talk about the different kinds of **lycanthropy and werewolves**. Then, after a few drinks, we’ll head next door to the **Prince Charles Cinema** for the **8:30 pm screening**. You’ll find me in **seat D14** if you’d like to sit in the same row. **After the film**, at around **10:25 pm**, we’ll regroup again at the bar to share our thoughts and, give it our **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse/)** scores. You’ll also find the **full ticket information, cinema address and map down below**, so you won’t get lost. For now though, I think the moon this evening will be a **waning crescent**, but I suggest you continue to **stick to the roads and stay off the moors**, as the transformation inside is guaranteed. 🌘🐺 **See you guys there!** **Jonny** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- 👉 **HEADS UP** * If you **sign up** and later can’t make it, please 🙏 drop us a message (**or change your RSVP**) — You can also follow me **[@jonnyhideout](https://www.instagram.com/jonnyhideout/)** or our club **[@thehideoutmax](https://www.instagram.com/thehideoutmax/)** on instagram for fun updates. 🗓 **SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN** * **7:30 PM:** Drinks (Victory House Wine Bar) * **8:30 PM:** Fim (Prince Charles Cinema) * **10:30 pm:** Review 🎟️ **TICKET INFO & PRICES** * **Price:** From £11:50 * **Members Price**: £14.50 * **Tickets**: [Prince Charles Cinema](https://princecharlescinema.com/prince-charles-cinema/booknow/31627482/) 📍**VENUE ADDRESS** * **Victory House Wine Bar:** 14 Leicester Pl, London WC2H 7BZ * **Prince Charles Cinema:** 7 Leicester Pl, London WC2H 7BY 🎬 **PLOT DETAILS** * Two American college students are on a walking tour of Britain when they are attacked by a werewolf whose existence is consistently denied by the locals. 🌍🎬 THE SACRIFICE (4K RESTORATION FILM & DISCUSSION)

🌍🎬 THE SACRIFICE (4K RESTORATION FILM & DISCUSSION)

Sun, Sep 20, 1:00 PM
From 🎥 MOVIE ROADHOUSE LONDON
4.4

☢️ ***What would you give up if you knew the world was about to end!*** 👋 **Hey guys!** For this one we’re heading to **Curzon Mayfair** for the 4K restoration of **Andrei Tarkovsky’s** The Sacrifice, screening as part of Curzon’s Film 50 celebrations. This was Tarkovsky’s final film, made in Sweden and released in 1986, the same year he died. It follows Alexander, a retired actor celebrating his birthday with his family when news arrives that nuclear war may have begun. Faced with the possibility of everything disappearing, he makes a desperate bargain with God. It’s also an interesting meeting of two cinematic worlds. Tarkovsky made the film in Sweden with several people closely associated with Ingmar Bergman, most notably cinematographer Sven Nykvist, and the result unmistakably looking absolutely beautiful. Seeing Nykvist’s images in a new **4K restoration** on the big screen feels like a pretty good reason to spend a Sunday afternoon at the cinema. **The Meetup:** We’ll meet at the **Curzon Mayfair** bar from **2:15 pm** for drinks and a chat before heading into the 3:00 pm screening. I’ll be in seat **G21** if you want to book nearby. The restoration runs for around 2 hours 29 minutes, so allowing for trailers we should be back at the bar at around 5:45 pm for our discussion and Letterboxd scores. **See you there!** **Faheem** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- 👉 **HEADS UP** * If you **sign u**p and later can’t make it, please 🙏 **drop us a quick messag**e (or change your RSVP) You can also follow our club **[@movieroadhouse](https://www.instagram.com/movieroadhouseuk/)** on instagram for fun updates **️ 🗓️ SCHEDULE BREAKDOW** * **2:15 PM**: Drinks (Curzon Mayfair) * **3:00 PM:** Screening (Screen 1) * **5:45 PM**: Discussion + Letterboxd scores 📱**STAY CONNECTED** * Join our WhatsApp or Telegram groups (available by request), or hop onto our **[WhatsApp Channel](https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaMVu2Z1NCrYkXpqOd1X)** or **[Telegram Channe](https://t.me/movieroadhouse)**[l](https://t.me/movieroadhouse)for quiet updates without the chat.
