1 DAY Film-jam No.132

This event will be for people to meet, go off and film, come back and enjoy the results. Whatever you want to do, be it film, act, direct or even just sort of hang around at the back then this is the event for you! MEET AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NATIONAL THEATRE. If you are wondering what this group can provide for you, it’s above all else friendship with other like minded people, whether you are a screenwriter, director, cameraperson, actor etc etc. With that in mind, on Saturday we will do the following: 1. We’ll meet at the National Theatre on Southbank. 2. We’ll split into two groups (or more if needed) 3. Each team will try and beat the other teams to a pub in EC1 in London and edit (maybe) the film. BUT 4. Each team must make a 2 minute 30 seconds film on the way with a beginning middle and end, a solid story arc for the main character, etc. Remember to bring: 1. You and your enthusiasm 2. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever) 3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt! The first team that finishes gets a Small Prize! Hopefully then, you will stick around to have a great time chatting about film, meeting new people, and forgetting about work until the late hours. Film Jam has been bringing filmmakers together for years, with **hundreds of short films made through the community**. It’s a chance to meet like-minded people, learn by doing, build your experience and actually see ideas make it to the screen. Whether you're interested in writing, directing, producing, acting, cinematography, sound, editing, art department or simply want to get involved and gain more experience, all levels are welcome. You don't need to have an idea to pitch. Come along, hear the pitches, choose a project that interests you and be part of making it happen. Whether you want to build your portfolio, gain experience, meet collaborators or simply make more films, the 1 Month Film Jam gives you a **deadline and a team to help turn an idea into something real.** At the end of the month, the completed films will be screened at **Coldharbour Blue Cinema**. ## This Month's Theme: CHILDHOOD MEMORY Interpret the theme however you want — funny, nostalgic, emotional, strange, dark or something completely unexpected. Make it your own. ## How It Works ### Saturday 17th October — Opening Day \| 11am–1pm ### **The Old Red Cow** 71 Long Lane Barbican, London EC1A 9EJ [Google Maps](https://goo.gl/maps/c4BZhgQz2GLsYZpg9?utm_source=chatgpt.com) **11:00–11:15am — Meet & Mingle** Meet everyone and get to know some of the other filmmakers taking part. **11:15am — Pitches** Anyone taking part can pitch an idea based around the theme **Childhood Memory**. Each pitch can be **up to 5 minutes**, followed by **up to 4 minutes of Q&A**. If you'd like to pitch an idea, **please let me know beforehand** so I know how many pitches we'll have on the day. **Voting** Once we've heard the pitches, the group will vote on the ideas they'd most like to see made. The number of films selected will depend on the number of people taking part. **Form Your Teams** We'll then form teams around the selected films, agree roles and start developing the films. There are **no role-specific tickets**. Roles will be agreed within each team once the films have been selected. Then you've got **one month to make your film!** ## Respect the Original Idea The structural integrity of the original idea that was pitched and voted for should be respected. Filmmaking is collaborative, so the team will develop the film together while staying true to the heart of the original idea. ## Weekend of 31st October — Filming Weekend 🎥 We’re currently **in the process of securing a filming location** for this weekend, with full details and timings to be confirmed. Teams can also arrange any additional rehearsals or filming they need during the month around everyone's availability. Then it’s time to get the films edited and ready for the big screen! ## Sunday 15th November — Premiere & Wrap Party 🎬 The finished films will be screened at: **Coldharbour Blue Cinema** 259–260 Hardess Street Loughborough Junction London SE24 0HN Come along, watch the finished films and celebrate what everyone has created over the month. ## Tickets **£35 per person** Your ticket covers your participation in the **full 1 Month Film Jam**, from the opening session through to the final cinema screening. **Your ticket also includes entry to the screening for you + one guest.** Tickets must be purchased through **Eventbrite** to take part. ## Please Note **Maximum film length: 10 minutes.** All experience levels are welcome. Money raised will go towards the costs of running Film Jam, with anything remaining going back into future Film Jam activities. ## What's Next? We’re also developing an **Extended Film Jam** for filmmakers who want more time to develop and make a bigger project. 'Filmmakers' social sit-down: BFI-NFT box-office bar (on Theatre Ave, Southbank)

Come along to BFI-NFT for a relaxed sit-down social - 1st Monday every month, 7pm: An informal meetup open for anyone pursuing or developing personal film-making goals, however big or small. *(See location info for how to find us) **Format / Schedule:** This isn't a formal networking event: it is for newcomers and outsiders, to be able to meet and chat. No pressure to pitch - you can discuss your film goals and background as much or little as you wish. Also a chance to exchange input about any events and resources that you may have found useful (or not!) - anything that may help each other find what they need.
